Okay, I’m so excited! Valve finally dropped patch 7.40 for Dota 2! It’s been ages since the last big update, and it’s packed with changes. They’ve rebalanced a ton of stuff, reworked some heroes, and even added new items. But the biggest news? There’s a brand new hero! His name is Largo, and he’s… a frog bard! Seriously, a whimsical frog who plays music! He’s the 127th hero now, which is just incredible.
His melee support build enables allies and disrupts enemies quite nicely, by all accounts.
Largo Enters Dota 2 in Patch 7.40
Largo’s abilities and items are unique and, unsurprisingly, all based on the fact that he’s a frog.
- Catchy Lick: A tongue pull that dispels and damages, granting Largo regeneration when cleansing effects
- Frogstomp: Summoned froglings stomp the ground, dealing damage, mini‑stunning, and slowing foes.
- Croak of Genius: Cast on allies to reduce mana costs and echo their damage over time.
- Amphibian Rhapsody: A musical ultimate where Largo strums songs—Bullbelly Blitz for spell amplification, Hotfeet Hustle for speed and resistance, and Island Elixir for healing. Successful strums build “Groovin’” stacks, boosting armor and reducing mana costs.
That’s an interesting lineup.
As a huge Largo fan, I’m so excited about his Aghanim’s upgrades! The Shard is amazing because it reflects buffs back onto Largo himself, which is a great way to keep him going. And the Scepter? Seriously powerful – he can play two songs every beat and dish out extra magic damage. It really opens up his potential!

Largo comes from the Murkroot Forest, but his people were forced to leave when the Talga‑Ruun invaded. He became known as a hero when his music brought life back to the island of Valu’Mar. Now, he travels the world with his frogling friends and magical lute, sharing his inspiring music with everyone he meets.
Dota 2’s latest update, Patch 7.40, includes significant changes to several heroes, such as Lone Druid, Slark, and Treant Protector. It also updates the neutral items available in the game and modifies the map itself, which is expected to shake up competitive play.
