The Spring 2026 anime season has begun, and fans are excited to see what happens next in returning series like Dr. Stone. The fourth season ended with an uneasy peace after the conflict between Senku and Dr. Xeno, and now most characters have been revived from their petrified state. The story is now focused on rebuilding and progress, with Senku and Dr. Xeno essentially starting fresh with a clean slate.
It seemed like Senku Ishigami had finally found a safe environment to focus on his inventions, but the latest episode revealed that’s not entirely the case. While Why-Man didn’t directly attack the Kingdom of Science, he delivered a frightening warning: “DO YOU WANT TO DIE?” This unsettling message has shaken everyone and casts doubt on Senku and Dr. Xeno’s efforts to restore NASA. Despite this setback, the spirit of science remains strong, and the next episode, “FIRE,” promises to reveal more of the world around them.
The Kingdom of Science Splits Into Three Task Forces
The World is Senku’s to Explore
Senku, the leader of the Kingdom of Science, understands he can’t do everything alone. Throughout Dr. Stone, he’s relied on others to help with tasks and speed up progress, and that continues in the current arc. To advance both scientific endeavors and prepare for battles, Senku divides his kingdom into specialized teams – sometimes for urgent situations, and now for more routine work. This organization into three main teams will be a key element of the “FIRE” episode and the unfolding endgame.

As a huge fan of Dr. Stone, I’m really excited about where things are headed! It looks like we’ll be following three main groups for a while – Senku’s team, Dr. Xeno’s crew in Superalloy City, and Taiju’s group over in Corn City. While everyone’s important, I have a feeling Senku and his team will still be the main focus, driving the story with his amazing inventions and leadership. I expect the other two teams will get their own storylines, but honestly, it’s Senku’s journey on the New Perseus that’s really going to push Dr. Stone forward – it’s what I’m most looking forward to!
Exploration is becoming increasingly important in Dr. Stone, especially as Senku develops better ways to travel. In Season 1, he was mostly confined to the area around Ishigami Village. Later, in the Treasure Island Arc and Season 3, the first Perseus allowed him to reach the coast of Stone Age California. Now, he has the upgraded New Perseus, a much faster and more advanced ship. With this new vessel, traveling around the world is almost as easy as it was in the 21st century, meaning Senku can explore any land he chooses. The globe shown in the episode “Future Engine” suggests he’ll be going everywhere, and will likely encounter new friends along the way.
The current storyline in Dr. Stone is relatively calm, as most of Senku’s enemies are still petrified. This allows the series to focus on expanding the Kingdom of Science by introducing new skilled characters and continuing its educational approach. While Joel the watchmaker recently joined the team, the show is setting the stage for even more additions. Senku needs a variety of experts – like rocket scientists and computer programmers – to help with his ambitious space program, and there are countless petrified people who could be revived to contribute.
Tension Lingers With Dr. Xeno and Why-Man
Dr. Xeno’s Endgame Remains a Mystery
A major achievement for Senku in the recent Dr. Stone storyline was turning his former friend, Dr. Xeno, from a rival into an ally. Initially, Dr. Xeno helped Senku in South America while also plotting a rescue by the dangerous Stanley Snider. Now, their alliance appears sincere and complete. However, Dr. Stone fans haven’t forgotten Dr. Xeno’s previous behavior, and his unpredictable nature could create problems in Superalloy City while Senku is gone.
While Dr. Xeno probably won’t directly betray anyone, there are definitely some potential problems with him. He’s fully embraced a risky, unconventional approach to science, experimenting with dangerous substances and potentially compromising his ethics to achieve breakthroughs. Even if he agrees with Senku’s goal of building a space program, his methods could cause trouble within the Kingdom of Science. And on top of that, there’s still the mystery surrounding Why-Man.
The identity and motives of Why-Man remain a mystery, and his petrification of humanity has left fans of Dr. Stone wondering how Dr. Xeno and Senku will react when they finally face him. While the next episode likely won’t reveal the full answer, it may offer some clues. Dr. Xeno’s approach to Why-Man could be very different from Senku’s – he might see Why-Man as an opportunity to gain something, rather than as a danger to be eliminated. This difference in perspective could create tension as the story progresses.
