Dragon Ball: 10 Strongest Characters Who Can Use God Ki, Ranked

The introduction of God Ki was a major turning point in the Dragon Ball series, beginning with the movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Suddenly, the immense power levels characters like Super Buu, Ultimate Gohan, and Super Saiyan Vegito had reached in Dragon Ball Z seemed insignificant compared to the abilities of Beerus, Whis, and Super Saiyan God Goku.

God Ki dramatically shifted the power balance in Dragon Ball, but very few characters are able to harness it. This incredible energy is exclusive to the strongest fighters in the Dragon Ball Super universe, giving them power levels far beyond anything seen in Dragon Ball Z.

10. Fused Zamasu Has Goku Black & Zamasu’s God Ki Powering Him Up

When Goku Black and Zamasu fused using the Potara earrings, the resulting being, Fused Zamasu, was unique because it was essentially a fusion with oneself. This gave him a massive power increase, similar to what happens when Goku and Vegeta fuse into Vegito or Gogeta. Fused Zamasu combined Goku Black’s incredible strength with Zamasu’s intelligence and strategic thinking.

Okay, so Fused Zamasu is seriously overpowered! Because both Zamasu and Goku Black had God Ki, the fusion just amplified that to an insane level. And it’s not just power – Zamasu’s immortality carried over, which is a huge deal. He could just keep fighting even when he should have been defeated. But the craziest part? He got so strong he started merging with the entire multiverse Future Trunks was from! Seriously, the only way to stop him was for Zeno to just wipe everything out of existence. It was a terrifying situation!

9. Toppo’s God Ki Made Him One of the Strongest Fighters in the Tournament of Power

Toppo was an incredibly strong fighter in the Tournament of Power, second only to Jiren from Universe 11. He initially surprised Goku with his godly energy and defeated him during a preliminary exhibition match. Later, in the Tournament of Power itself, Toppo transformed into his Destroyer Form and almost defeated Vegeta.

Toppo is a rare character in Dragon Ball Super who can use the incredibly powerful Hakai technique, which is normally reserved for Gods of Destruction. As Universe 11’s chosen successor to become a God of Destruction, Toppo is as strong as, and possibly stronger than, some of the weaker Gods of Destruction like Belmod. If Vegeta hadn’t reached a new level of power during the tournament, Toppo would have won and ensured Universe 11’s victory.

8. Merus Taught Goku How to Master God Ki

I’m absolutely fascinated by Merus! He’s this incredible being – a Galactic Patrolman and an Angel in training – but he’s got this huge restriction: he can’t use his full power when dealing with mortals, or he risks being completely erased! But when Moro started causing real trouble, Merus stepped up and decided to train Goku in Ultra Instinct. It was amazing to see! He took Goku into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and basically started him from square one, pushing him to learn how to access Ultra Instinct whenever he needed it. It wasn’t just about power, it was about control, and Merus was the perfect teacher.

In the climactic fight against Moro, Merus bravely fought to buy time, using a form similar to Ultra Instinct. However, using his angelic powers against a mortal caused him to disappear. Luckily, the Grand Priest allowed him to be reborn as a normal human. Since the end of the battle with Moro, Merus hasn’t reappeared, leaving fans wondering if he still has access to his incredible abilities.

7. Moro Unlocked God Ki By Absorbing Merus’ Powers

So far, Moro is the only villain in Dragon Ball to master Ultra Instinct. He initially gains this ability by absorbing the powers of countless fighters. During his climactic fight with Goku, Moro absorbs the abilities of Merus, a powerful angel, which unlocks angelic powers for himself and allows him to use Ultra Instinct. This also gives him access to God Ki.

Moro’s body couldn’t cope with the power he absorbed from Merus, causing it to reject his own energy. This made him incredibly unstable, and he began to merge with the planet itself. Ultimately, Goku and Vegeta were able to finally defeat him by combining Goku’s Ultra Instinct with energy lent by Uub, and Vegeta’s Forced Spirit Fission technique.

6. Vegeta Learned How to Use God Ki Through Sheer Force of Will

While Goku needed a special ritual to achieve Super Saiyan God and God Ki in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Vegeta gained the ability to use God Ki through intense training. After the events of Battle of Gods, Vegeta spent six months training alone with Whis on Beerus’ planet, where he learned to sense and use God Ki without performing the ritual.

While Goku is famous for Ultra Instinct, many fans believe Vegeta actually has a better grasp of God Ki. Vegeta learned to use God Ki without training, has a more powerful form of Super Saiyan Blue (called Super Saiyan Blue Evolved), and is the only character in Dragon Ball who can use the unique Ultra Ego transformation.

5. Goku Has Been Using God Ki Longer Than Any Z-Fighter

Goku is the most experienced Z-Fighter when it comes to using God Ki. He first achieved Super Saiyan God in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and has been consistently improving his control over God Ki throughout Dragon Ball Super. This is especially true after unlocking Ultra Instinct during his battle with Jiren. Since the Tournament of Power arc, almost every storyline in Dragon Ball Super has centered around Goku’s efforts to perfect Ultra Instinct.

Throughout the Moro and Granolah the Survivor arcs, Goku masters Ultra Instinct, learning to activate it at will. He then discovers he can combine his various God forms with True Ultra Instinct for an extra power increase. By the end of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero manga storyline, Goku’s Ultra Instinct is so powerful he can fight Gohan Beast as an equal, and he’s become skilled enough to use Ultra Instinct as easily as a Super Saiyan transformation.

4. Gogeta & Vegito Are the Ultimate God Fusions

Gogeta and Vegito are incredibly similar in strength, likely evenly matched. Gogeta is created when Goku and Vegeta use the Fusion Dance, while Vegito is formed when they use the Potara earrings. Both are exceptionally powerful, with power levels sometimes compared to a God of Destruction like Beerus. This suggests they have a profound understanding and control of divine energy that most people can’t achieve.

Vegito, in Super Saiyan Blue form, almost defeats the seemingly invincible Fused Zamasu before his fusion runs out. Similarly, Gogeta easily overcomes Legendary Super Saiyan Broly in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, with plenty of power and fusion time remaining. If Goku and Vegeta were willing to fuse more often, Gogeta and Vegito could likely defeat any enemy, including the Gods of Destruction.

3. Beerus & Every God of Destruction Can Use God Ki on a Destructive Level

Generally, each universe’s God of Destruction is its most powerful being, with the exception of Universe 11, where Jiren is stronger. They are also second only to their Angel attendants in power. As gods, they all possess immense spiritual energy and can use a unique ability called Hakai to completely erase anything from existence.

Beerus is considered the strongest of all the Gods of Destruction. He’s exceptionally skilled with God Ki, and uniquely, he can even use the Ultra Instinct technique. In a battle between all twelve Gods of Destruction shown in the Dragon Ball Super manga, Beerus ultimately remains the last one standing.

2. The Grand Priest, Whis, & Every Angel is a Master of God Ki

Angels are significantly more powerful than their respective Gods of Destruction – the difference in strength is considerable. While we haven’t seen Angels fully fight yet in the series, Whis has demonstrated incredible speed, easily evading attacks from even the strongest villains like Legendary Super Saiyan Broly and moving too quickly for characters like Moro to follow.

The Grand Priest, considered the father of all Angels, is the most powerful Angel in the Dragon Ball universe. Angels are significantly stronger than any other character, including the Gods. While their exact power is difficult to measure, their mastery of God Ki far surpasses everyone else, with only one exception.

1. Zeno is the Most Powerful God in Dragon Ball

Zeno, also known as the Omni-King, is the most powerful character in the entire Dragon Ball universe. He originally created everything and can instantly erase anything – even entire universes – as seen when Future Trunks faced a serious threat. Simply put, Zeno is the strongest being who can wield divine energy in the series.

Zeno is similar to the Angels in that he’s never actually fought, but we’ve witnessed his incredible power. He can instantly erase anything or anyone from existence with no effort. Considering how much stronger he is than everyone else, it’s simply impossible to imagine Goku, or anyone else, ever reaching his level, let alone defeating him.
