Dragon Ball: 10 Strongest Saiyan Power Levels From Planet Vegeta, Ranked

The Saiyans are known as the most powerful warriors in the Dragon Ball universe. However, their potential was tragically cut short when Frieza destroyed their planet and most of their people twelve years before the events of Dragon Ball begin. While Dragon Ball Super often shows how incredibly strong Saiyans could become, most were wiped out before they had a chance to grow stronger through battle and unlock their full power.

By the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, fewer than ten Saiyans remained in Universe 7, and they all had different levels of strength. When Planet Vegeta was destroyed, even the strongest Saiyans only had Power Levels in the five digits – surprisingly low when you consider how powerful Goku and Vegeta become by the time of Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

10. Goku: Less Than 10

Currently, Vegeta is stronger than Goku in the Dragon Ball series, following their battle in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. While some Goku fans might find this surprising, it’s remarkable considering how weak Goku used to be. Early in the series, Vegeta pointed out that Goku was a low-class Saiyan, and his initial Power Level of only 10 proved it.

At the start of the Dragon Ball series, Goku’s Power Level is 10, meaning it was about 5 when his father, Bardock, sent him to Earth. Bardock chose Earth specifically because he wanted Goku to land on a planet where the inhabitants wouldn’t be much stronger than him. We see this in the beginning of Dragon Ball Z when Raditz scans a farmer and discovers the average human has a Power Level of just 5.

9. Beets: Less Than 920

We haven’t gotten a clear reading on Beets’ strength, but it’s definitely below that of young Broly. When Beets and Paragus checked Broly’s power on Vampa, Beets was surprised to find Broly was already more powerful. Considering Beets is a low-class Saiyan, his actual power level could be significantly less than 920.

Beets doesn’t show any impressive abilities in Dragon Ball; he’s killed by Paragus with a simple gunshot. The fact that Paragus needed a weapon instead of his own energy attack raises questions about how powerful Saiyans can actually become. Ultimately, Beets is one of the weakest Saiyans seen in the series.

8. Raditz: 1,200

I’ve always found Raditz to be an interesting case when it comes to Saiyan strength. He hung out with powerful warriors like Vegeta and Nappa, but he wasn’t nearly on their level. When we first see him in Dragon Ball Z, his power level is around 1,200, though he doesn’t stick around for long. It makes you wonder how strong he was as a kid. Most Saiyans didn’t get many opportunities to get stronger through near-death experiences, but it’s possible young Raditz was already in the thousands, even then.

Considering all of this, it’s worth noting that Raditz actually had a higher natural talent than Goku. As a young adult, Raditz was about ten times stronger than Goku was during his battle with the Demon King Piccolo, and they were around the same age. If Raditz had survived and continued training, he could have potentially become stronger than Goku. This highlights the incredible power within Bardock and Gine’s lineage, even among Saiyans who weren’t elite warriors.

7. Average Saiyan Soldier: 2,000

After Kind Cold gives Frieza command of his forces, Frieza’s son uses a Scouter to assess the Saiyans, starting with King Vegeta’s palace. He quickly discovers that King Vegeta has Saiyan snipers ready to attack. The Scouter registers one sniper’s power level at 2,000 before Frieza instantly eliminates him with a Death Beam.

Since these Saiyans were specifically chosen to protect King Vegeta, most regular Saiyan soldiers likely had a Power Level around 2,000. More powerful, elite Saiyans like Nappa and Paragus reached around 4,000, while weaker ones such as Bardock and Raditz were closer to 1,000, so they were often stationed together.

6. Nappa: 4,000

For years, Nappa served as Vegeta’s loyal second-in-command and possessed a strong Power Level of 4,000. In Dragon Ball Z, he was the villain responsible for the deaths of more Z-Fighters than anyone else, defeating Chiaotzu, Tien Shinhan, and Piccolo in a single fight. Had Goku not intervened, Nappa would have also killed Gohan and Krillin.

Similar to Raditz, Nappa was probably not as strong in his youth. Any increase in his power likely came naturally with age and battle experience, rather than from special boosts gained after recovering from injuries. Despite being very powerful, Nappa is significantly weaker than Vegeta, who considers him far inferior.

5. Paragus: 4,200

In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Paragus demonstrates surprising strength, which isn’t too unexpected given that his infant son already had a Power Level of 10,000. Considering Paragus was a weakened, elderly man who had spent years struggling to survive on Vampa, it’s logical to assume he was even more powerful in his younger days, reaching a Power Level of 4,200 despite his condition.

It was sad to see how much Paragus had weakened. Being exiled meant he couldn’t train or get stronger like the other Saiyans. By the time Dragon Ball Super rolled around, he was far behind everyone else. It really made me wonder what could have been, though. If he’d joined Frieza’s forces after Planet Vegeta was destroyed, he likely would have been the second strongest Saiyan, only surpassed by Prince Vegeta himself.

4. Bardock: 10,000

Even though Bardock was a low-ranking Saiyan, he showed that anyone can challenge the powerful with enough effort, just like his son Goku. As seen in the Dragon Ball Super arc featuring Granolah, Bardock was able to access a power similar to Ultra Instinct, allowing him to defeat Gas – a Heeter who was considerably stronger than himself.

Although the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly changed the story presented in the Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku special, the Dragon Ball manga hints that the special’s events may have still occurred. This means Bardock could have still been incredibly powerful – with a Power Level of 10,000 – when he died. However, even that strength wasn’t enough to defeat Frieza, and Bardock perished with the rest of the Saiyan race during his unsuccessful fight.

3. Broly: 10,000

Broly was born with an incredible power level of 10,000, making him the most naturally gifted Saiyan ever. King Vegeta, who believed only the strong should lead, banished Broly and his father, Paragus, fearing Broly would one day become powerful enough to overthrow him and take control of Planet Vegeta.

It’s ironic that being exiled is what allowed Broly to survive and eventually challenge Vegeta. Born with an incredibly high Power Level of 10,000, Broly grew into an unbelievably strong adult – powerful enough to fight and compete with even the Gods. In his base Super Saiyan form, he was able to defeat both Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta.

2. King Vegeta: Less Than 18,000

As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I’ve always been fascinated by King Vegeta! He was the ruler of Planet Vegeta, so naturally, he was an incredibly powerful Saiyan back when it was destroyed. But it’s amazing to think his own son, Vegeta, actually surpassed him at a young age! The manga actually states Vegeta outgrew his father’s power when he was just a kid, which means King Vegeta’s Power Level was likely under 18,000. It’s wild to consider the strength of the royal family!

It’s notable that King Vegeta doesn’t actually do much in the official Dragon Ball story. He never participates in a fight throughout Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball Super, so it’s hard to say how strong he really is. However, he’s clearly not as powerful as King Cold or his son Vegeta. The fact that he was scared of Broly, who had a Power Level of 10,000, suggests King Vegeta’s Power Level was probably even lower than that.

1. Vegeta: 18,000

At the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, history seems to be repeating itself: Vegeta has once again become the strongest Saiyan, mirroring his position after Planet Vegeta’s destruction. Unlike other Saiyans, Vegeta didn’t truly benefit from Zenkai Boosts – the power increases gained from recovering from near-death experiences – until his defeat by Goku and the Earthlings. Any strength he gained before that came purely from training and winning battles with minimal effort.

It’s unlikely young Vegeta had a Power Level of 18,000, but he was probably surprisingly powerful for his age, nearing the strength he showed during the Saiyan Saga. Though not as strong as Broly, Vegeta possesses incredible potential and consistently closes the gap whenever Goku gets ahead. With his new Ultra Ego transformation, Vegeta is now at his strongest.
