The Demon Realm officially appears in the story of Dragon Ball DAIMA, but creator Akira Toriyama had hinted at its existence within the Dragon Ball universe for years. It’s a key location in games like Dragon Ball Online, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and Super Dragon Ball Heroes, and many of the series’ most powerful enemies come from there.
I’ve been thinking about the Demon Realm from Dragon Ball, and it’s seriously a world full of incredibly strong beings – easily on par with, or even stronger than, the most powerful characters in Dragon Ball Z. If the Demon Realm ever reappears in the Dragon Ball Super manga, I have a feeling Goku and the others would face enemies that are even more terrifying than Frieza was in his Black form.

12. Majin Dabura Was Strong Enough to Rule the Demon Realm & Babidi’s Right-Hand Man
In Dragon Ball DAIMA, Dabura was once the powerful ruler of the Demon Realm. After Babidi took control of him, Dabura went to Earth to assist in bringing Majin Buu back to life. He fought Gohan to a standstill, but ultimately, Fat Buu turned him into a cookie and ate him.
During his fight with Dabura, Gohan’s power level was comparable to that of Super Perfect Cell from the Cell Games, as Goku and Vegeta observed. If Gohan had continued training after defeating Cell, he would have easily won against Dabura. However, because Gohan didn’t train for seven years, their strength ended up being equal.
11. Kid Buu is More Dangerous Than He is Powerful
Kid Buu is the first form of Majin Buu, originally from the Demon Realm. Despite what the Dragon Ball Z anime suggests, Kid Buu is actually one of the least powerful versions of Buu. He’s much weaker than Super Buu, to the point where Super Saiyan 3 Goku could match him in a fight and likely would have won if his transformation didn’t use so much energy.
Even so, Kid Buu remains incredibly powerful and dangerous. He’s different from Super Buu because he fights completely erratically and will destroy anything – even the planet – if he wants to. He doesn’t get tired, is unpredictable, and quickly figures out his opponents’ strategies just by observing them. These qualities make Kid Buu one of the strongest and most frightening demons in the Demon Realm.
10. Majin Duu Beat Tamagami 3 Where Dabura Failed
As a long-time Dragon Ball fan, I’m so hyped about Majin Duu! Apparently, Dr. Arinsu and Marba built him as the perfect Majin warrior – a real upgrade after Majin Kuu didn’t quite cut it. What’s really interesting is that the new series, Dragon Ball DAIMA, shows us Dabura just wasn’t strong enough to take on Tamagami 3, even before Tamagami became king! It basically confirms that Majin Duu has to be significantly more powerful than Dabura ever was.
Majin Duu is actually more powerful than both Fat Buu and Kid Buu. He’s fast enough to fight alongside Mini Goku and can even transform into a form similar to Super Saiyan 3. During the battle against Giant Gomah, Majin Duu played a key role, helping Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo before Super Saiyan 4 Goku ultimately took over.
9. Super Janemba is Just as Strong as Super Buu
Before the introduction of Beerus in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Super Janemba was considered the most powerful villain in all the Dragon Ball Z movies. This demon is so strong that his existence itself puts reality at risk, and his power level is probably similar to that of Buuhan. Just like against Super Buu, Goku in his Super Saiyan 3 form simply isn’t strong enough to defeat Super Janemba.
To defeat Super Janemba, Goku and Vegeta had no choice but to fuse using the Fusion Dance, creating Gogeta. Super Saiyan Gogeta quickly defeated him, but Super Janemba was still an incredibly powerful opponent—far stronger than most villains in Dragon Ball Z, and a truly formidable demon.
8. Giant Gomah is Borderline Unstoppable Thanks to the Evil Third Eye
Gomah isn’t a very strong fighter on his own – any of the Z-Fighters in Dragon Ball DAIMA, even their smaller versions, could beat him. But when he uses the Tertian Oculus, Gomah becomes more powerful than Buuhan, who was the strongest villain in Dragon Ball Z. As Giant Gomah, he’s incredibly strong, able to battle Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Majin Buu without any effort.
Adult Giant Gomah is a powerful foe, even for Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta. Only Super Saiyan 4 Goku can really match its strength. While Goku almost defeats Gomah, a special ability called the Evil Third Eye keeps Gomah alive unless someone kicks the back of its neck three times. Because of this, Gomah survives even Goku’s most powerful attack.
7. Towa Has Fought Some of the Most Powerful Characters in Dragon Ball
Towa, the sister of Dabura and a member of the Demon Realm’s royal family, isn’t as powerful as her brother in her normal state. However, when she transforms into Demon Goddess Towa, she’s incredibly strong. Towa primarily works as a scientist, creating artificial demons like Mira and Fu to carry out her plans, which often involve disrupting the flow of time.
Towa’s power is proven by her battles against some of the strongest characters in Super Dragon Ball Heroes. She survived a fight with Dark Broly, competed with Super Saiyan Blue Vegito, and even clashed with the Supreme Kai of Time, Chronoa, at full strength.
6. Mira is a God Tier Demon
Mira is a major villain in the Dragon Ball games Online, Xenoverse, and Super Dragon Ball Heroes. Created as an artificial demon alongside Towa, his goal is to dominate the Demon Realm. Like Cell, Mira is created using the DNA of powerful warriors, but he’s significantly more powerful, even becoming a Demon King himself.
At his peak, Mira’s power is comparable to Super Saiyan Blue. He was ultimately defeated by the main character from the Xenoverse games, but only with the help of Super Saiyan Blue Goku. This implies Mira may actually be stronger than Super Saiyan Blue, potentially reaching a power level similar to Ultra Instinct Sign.

5. Demigra Fights Super Saiyan Blue Vegito & Lives
Demigra is a key villain in both Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Super Dragon Ball Heroes. He opposes Chronoa and aims to dominate reality by seizing control of time itself. Demigra is incredibly powerful, surpassing most of the Z-Fighters even in their God forms, and can easily defeat Super Saiyan Blue transformations.
Demigra is incredibly powerful, even capable of battling Goku in his Ultra Instinct Sign form. While he once needed assistance even to fight Chronoa, he’s become much stronger over time. 4. Chronoa is the Strongest Supreme Kai of All Time
The Supreme Kai of Time, also known as Chronoa, existed 75 million years in the past, when the Glind were still inhabitants of the Demon Realm. While she appears as a child, Chronoa isn’t very powerful on her own and relies on Xeno Trunks and the Time Patrol to maintain order throughout history.
When Chronoa transforms into her Time Power Unleashed state, she gains power exceeding that of most demons, even Demigra. Working with Super Saiyan God Xeno Trunks, she’s crucial in the final fight against Mechikabura, ultimately using her abilities to seal him away permanently.
3. Mechikabura is Literally Immortal
Mechikabura is a remarkably strong demon in Dragon Ball and is unique for successfully using the Dragon Balls to wish for immortality. He has the dangerous ability to absorb anything – even time itself – which makes him a huge threat to Chronoa, the Time Patrol, and the very fabric of reality.
Dark King Mechikabura is incredibly strong – it takes the combined power of Super Saiyan 4 Vegito, Super Saiyan God Xeno Trunks, and Chronoa using her Time Power to even weaken him. They can’t actually defeat him through fighting, so they have to use a special combination of Chronoa’s powers and Trunks’ Key Sword to permanently seal him away.
