As a lifelong Dragon Ball fan who’s been following this franchise since the days of Goku’s early adventures, the announcement of Dragon Ball Daima has me absolutely buzzing! Growing up with Goku and his friends has been like growing up myself, and now, as I navigate my own adult life, it feels nothing short of poetic that we’re embarking on this new adventure together.

On Thursday, Crunchyroll revealed that it will begin streaming “Dragon Ball Daima” with subtitles from October 11. This simulcast will be accessible for streaming in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.

Previously, it was revealed that the series will be broadcast on Friday evenings, starting at 11:40 PM, in a fresh television schedule.

More Voice Actors Revealed

In an unusual extension, Daima’s initial episode is set to run for 10 minutes more than the standard duration. This extended version will make its debut during the Dragon Ball Daimatsuri event on October 6th. The event itself will take place at Tokyo Big Sight, with cast members expected to attend two out of the three planned screenings.

Crunchyroll describes the series as:

As a result of a mysterious plot, Goku and his companions find themselves shrunken. What kind of journey lies ahead for Goku, Supreme Kai, and fresh faces Glorio and Panzy in this uncharted land, the “Demon Realm”?

Masako Nozawa will once again take on the character of Goku. Other actors in the lineup include Yumiko Kobayashi (voice of Shin-chan from “Crayon Shin-Chan” and Black Star from “Soul Eater”), Koki Uchiyama (Tomura Shigaraki from “My Hero Academia” and Izumi Miyamura from “Horimiya”), Fairouz Ai (Power from “Chainsaw Man” and Jolyne Kuujou from “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean”), Showtaro Morikubo (Shikamaru from “Naruto” and Yousuke Hanamura from “Persona 4”), Junya Enoki (Yuuji Itadori from “Jujutsu Kaisen” and Pannacotta Fugo from “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind”), and Yoko Hikasa (Rias Gremory from “High School DxD” and Mio from “K-ON!”) who will voice Dr. Arinsu, respectively.

Prior to his passing, Akira Toriyama, the renowned creator of “Dragon Ball,” worked on what turned out to be his final project series. In this endeavor, he was instrumental in both the development of the storyline and the design of characters. When the project was first unveiled at NYCC 2023, Toriyama himself hinted at his participation by issuing a statement.

Hello. I’m Akira Toriyama.

I’m currently working on a new Dragon Ball.

The title is “Dragon Ball DAIMA”.

“DAIMA” is a fictional term that translates to something like “Great Evil” in Japanese.

Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small.

In order to fix things, they’ll head off to a new world!

It’s a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve noticed that, despite his small stature, Goku compensates brilliantly by employing his Power Pole in combat – a tactic seldom used for quite some time now.

I came up with the story and settings, as well as a lot of the designs.

I’m actually putting a lot more into this than usual!

Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball world.

Hope you all enjoy these different-from-usual battles that are cute and powerful!!

In this project, Yoshitaka Yashima from “Dragon Ball Super” and Aya Komaki of “One Piece” will take charge as the directors. Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru will be responsible for bringing Akira Toriyama’s designs to life. Lastly, Yuuko Kakihara, known for her work on “Digimon Adventure tri.”, is in charge of writing the scripts.

The hit tune “Jaka Jaan” was created by multiple talents: Grammy Award-winning artist Zedd, who also handled production for the closing theme “NAKAMA”. The vocalists for this song are the duo CLIEVY and KEEN. Lyrics for “Jaka Jaan” were penned by Yukinojo Mori, a renowned contributor to iconic Dragon Ball songs like “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA” and “Limit Break x Survivor”. In the closing credits, you’ll find the song “NAKAMA”, featuring lyrics written and sung by singer-songwriter AI.
