As a longtime fan of Dragon Ball, I must say that the latest revelations in Daima have truly blown my mind! Growing up with Goku and his friends, I never imagined we would delve so deeply into the origins of the universe itself. The idea that the Demon Realm predates everything else is just mind-boggling, and it’s fascinating to learn about the good Supreme Demon King and Majin Rymus.

One delightful aspect that made Dragon Ball Super stand out was its extensive exploration of the series’ universe. It brought characters like Beerus and Whis into the picture, introducing the idea of Gods of Destruction and Angels. This notion was then deepened by discussing the multiverse, a concept consisting of twelve distinct realms, each governed by their own God of Destruction with an Angel as their assistant.

From my perspective as a viewer, episode 10 of Dragon Ball Daima unveiled fresh insights regarding the multiverse concept in this series. Here, we delved into various unexplored and confirmed aspects of creation’s origins, as characters with unfathomable age and power beyond comprehension were hinted at for the first time. Thus, let’s examine the revised Dragon Ball multiverse landscape and understand how it varies from our previous understanding.

The Concept of the Multiverse Before Daima

Initially introduced in Super, the multiverse theory was further developed but left unexplored regarding its origin and history. At present, there are 12 distinct universes, each governed by their own Supreme Kais and Gods of Destruction. These universes are identified numerically: Surviving universes always occur in pairs, with the total number of these pairs equaling 13 (for example, Universes 1 and 12, 6 and 7, 3 and 10, etc.).

In simpler terms, Grand Zeno, a being with boundless destructive might capable of wiping out entire universes effortlessly, governs the vast expanse of all realities. Often referred to as the Omni-King, he stands as the supreme ruler in existence, yet his character is reminiscent of a child, which allowed Goku to form a friendship with him. Consistent with his immense power, Zeno tends to be indifferent towards life due to his ability to erase entire timelines at will.

A long time ago, initially there were 18 realms in existence. However, Zeno decided to eliminate 5 of these due to frustration over managing so many and because their ‘Mortal Levels’ were particularly low. Initially, he intended to remove the weakest of the remaining universes as well. Yet, instead, a competition known as the Tournament of Power took place, providing each realm with an opportunity to fight for survival.

In each universe, a supreme power known as the Supreme Kais and the Gods of Destruction hold sway. Their roles are distinct: the Supreme Kais foster life, while the Gods of Destruction eliminate it to promote cosmic evolution. Each God of Destruction is accompanied by an assistant angel, who serves as their mentor and ensures they carry out their duties effectively. In this grand multiverse scheme, Zeno was the ultimate ruler.

The groundbreaking disclosure from ‘Daima’ unveiled that the Demon Realm is astonishingly ancient, so old that it predates the entire multiverse. It was further explained that this realm existed before anything else outside of it. Although its exact age remains unknown, it serves as the origin for everything that came after.

Ages past, there existed a benevolent Ruler of Demons, often referred to as the ‘Kind’ Demon Overlord, whose real name remained unspoken. He yearned to enlarge his dominion in the Demon Realm. To accomplish this, he fashioned a being named Majin Rymus, granting it the ability to generate universes beyond their home realm and asserting control as its absolute sovereign.

Later on, Rymus constructed the multiverse as a means for inhabitants of the Demon Realm to relocate to Universes 6 and 7, which is how the Namekians arrived in those universes. Additionally, Rymus appointed members of the Glind race as rulers over the mortals of their respective universes, who were called the Supreme Kais. However, following the reign of the benevolent Supreme Demon King, his successor restricted access to and from the Demon Realm.

Many have speculated about Rymus’ resemblance to Zeno, implying that he might assume the ‘Kai’ role at the highest level in the multiverse. Some even propose that Zeno could be an imposter masquerading as the supreme authority, with Zeno of the Destruction God and the Grand Priest serving as his angelic attendant. As the lore of the multiverse expands, so does the potential for where the Dragon Ball series might head in the future, significantly enriching its world-building process.
