Key Takeaways

  • Dragon Ball DAIMA explores the Demon Realm, a separate location from the universes.
  • Entry to the Demon Realm is restricted by an interdimensional being named Warp-sama.
  • The Demon Realm is divided into three sub-realms, with each having its own Dragon Balls and unique features.

As a seasoned Dragon Ball fan with over two decades of Saiyan-slaying under my belt, let me tell you that Dragon Ball DAIMA has truly outdone itself by delving deep into the enigmatic Demon Realm. I’ve always been intrigued by the tantalizing glimpses of this otherworldly realm throughout the series, and finally getting to explore it was a dream come true!

The series titled “Dragon Ball DAIMA” unfolds following the Majin Buu arc of “Dragon Ball Z”. This particular installment stands out in the franchise as it delves deeply into the realm of demons, a world that had been hinted at but not thoroughly explored throughout the tale of Dragon Ball.

In this revised scenario, we find ourselves accompanying Goku and Supreme Kai as they’re summoned to explore the Demon Realm on a rescue mission for Dende, who’s being held captive by King Gomah and Degesu. This visit offers us an intimate glimpse into the enigmatic Demon Realm and sheds light on its role within the broader narrative.

A Plane Separate From The Universes

How To Get to the Demon Realm

In the fictional universe of Dragon Ball, the Demon Realm stands out as a unique and intriguing location. Unlike the afterlife or Hell, it’s not the same as the Demon Realm. While demons often originate from Hell, these two realms are distinct within Dragon Ball. The Demon Realm is separated from the rest of the Dragon Ball multiverse and is considered to be opposite to the established reality.

The Basic Structure of the Demon Realm

It Is Further Divided into Three Sub-Realms

The Demon Realm itself comprises of three parts; the First, Second and Third Demon Worlds, sub-realms that are connected to each other by the Demon Realm Tunnel. It seems that there is some level of social stratification in the Demon Realm as each sub-realm has a specific kind of resident. The Third Demon World is where commoners like Glorio reside, while the Second Demon World is traditionally home to Supreme Kai’s race, the Glinds, while the First Demon World is where the Demon King’s Palace can be found. The Demon Realm even has its own set of Dragon Balls, one for each sub-realm; however, collecting them is supposedly a very difficult feat as they’re protected by powerful beings known as the Tamagami.

In simpler terms, these Dragon Balls were crafted by an ancient Namekian named Neva, who is now allied with King Gomah. At one point, a restriction was put in place that prohibited easy movement between the different sub-dimensions of the Demon Realm. Each Demon World has its own ruler called a Demon Lord, and there’s also an overall ruler, another Demon Lord, for the entire Demon Realm. Before the Majin Buu storyline, this higher-ranking position was held by Dabura.

In this stage, we’ve gathered the most comprehensive information about the Third Demon World, which bears a resemblance to Earth, yet exhibits distinctly alien qualities such as its pink-purple sky, drifting volcanic islands that emit gas and ash, resulting in dense air, and a dark abyss called the Sea of Darkness. Navigating through the Third Demon World can be challenging due to its thick atmosphere, requiring pilots to fly at a leisurely pace to minimize air resistance. The society within this realm seems not dissimilar to those presented earlier in the series, though it is infamous for harboring malicious entities or groups.

Dragon Ball DAIMA is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
