I’ve been a Dragon Ball fan since the beginning, and honestly, the Great Ape transformation – or Oozaru, as it’s known – is what always stood out to me about the Saiyans. It’s just incredible that every Saiyan is born with the potential to turn into this massive, incredibly powerful ape whenever they look at the full moon! It’s a bit scary though, because most of them lose control, but the really strong Saiyans can actually master this form and keep their minds. It’s such a cool part of their history!
Goten And Trunks Were The Youngest To Achieve Super Saiyan

Saiyans are known for constantly striving to become stronger, and Goku and Vegeta perfectly represent this dedication. However, some Saiyans, like Goten and Trunks, are naturally gifted. They were able to transform into Super Saiyans at a very young age with little to no training. While Goku and Vegeta had to overcome significant challenges to achieve this level, it came easily to these younger Saiyans, and they’ve primarily relied on this powerful form ever since, making it their signature ability.

During the Tournament of Power, she finally let loose against Goku, triggering her incredible Berserker Saiyan transformation. While she later learned to manage this power, the Berserker form remains her most recognizable and impressive ability.

The version of Future Trunks that appeared in Dragon Ball Super was the strongest we’d ever seen, and his Super Saiyan Rage form demonstrated this perfectly. He absorbed the energy of everyone on Earth – much like a Spirit Bomb – and used it to transform into a unique, incredibly powerful state. This allowed him to finally defeat Merged Zamasu.
Gotenks Unlocked Super Saiyan 3 Against Super Buu
A Hilarious Power-Up

Everyone was amazed when Goku first transformed into Super Saiyan 3 during his battle with Majin Buu, believing it was a power level no one else could reach. Surprisingly, Gotenks proved them wrong during his own fight with Super Buu. Not only did he demonstrate immense strength, but he also showcased some of the most imaginative and skillful energy control seen throughout the series. Although he could only maintain the form for five minutes, Super Saiyan 3 became Gotenks’ signature transformation.
Kefla Unlocked A Powerful Super Saiyan Form
The Strongest Universe 6 Saiyan

As soon as the Tournament of Power allowed fusions, Caulifla and Kale quickly fused using the Potara earrings, creating Kefla. Kefla proved to be Universe 6’s most powerful fighter, demonstrating her incredible strength by transforming into a Super Saiyan and battling Goku in his Ultra Instinct Omen form. Despite losing, she was a memorable standout during the tournament.
Super Vegito Humiliated The Strongest Version Of Majin Buu
The Ultimate Warrior

The story of Dragon Ball took a major turn when Vegito first appeared. Even though Super Buu was at his absolute peak power, Vegito’s overwhelming strength – a combination of Goku and Vegeta’s abilities – was too much for the villain to handle. Vegito easily overpowered Super Buu, and the only reason Buu absorbed him was out of spite. While Vegito would later achieve Super Saiyan Blue in Super, many fans still consider his original appearance to be his most memorable.
Gogeta Brought Forth The Power Of An Ascended Super Saiyan God
The Perfect Fusion

Goku and Vegeta’s other fusion, Gogeta, considers Super Saiyan Blue his signature transformation. While Gogeta had appeared in non-canon material before, the Broly movie officially made him part of the main Dragon Ball story. Though fans enjoyed his original Super Saiyan form from his first appearance, his time as Super Saiyan Blue was far more impressive. Easily defeating the strongest villain the series had seen up to that point was a standout moment that fans remember much more vividly than his earlier form.
