Dragon Ball: Every Main Character’s Signature Technique

While Dragon Ball currently focuses on Goku and Vegeta, the series has featured many significant characters who’ve been crucial to the story at various times. Throughout Dragon Ball‘s run, we’ve encountered powerful villains, and the main characters have consistently risen to the occasion, facing each challenge with determination.

Characters in Dragon Ball use many different fighting techniques, ranging from close-combat attacks to powerful energy blasts. While some techniques are more effective than others, each character is known for one particular move. Let’s take a look at the signature moves of the main characters in Dragon Ball.

11. Yamcha – Wolf Fang Fist

Yamcha isn’t a major player in the series anymore, but he used to be a really important friend to Goku. He was always ready to fight alongside him, using his martial arts skills to help whenever there was trouble. Although he learned the Kamehameha wave like everyone trained at the Turtle School, he’s most famous for his Wolf Fang Fist attack.

The Wolf Fang Fist seemed impressive when Yamcha first used it, but now it’s unlikely to be very useful against tougher opponents. While his Spirit Ball is more powerful, the Wolf Fang Fist is what people remember most about him.

10. Tien – Tri-Beam

Tien initially showed a lot of potential as a character, but unfortunately, he faded into the background as the story went on. While he remains one of the most powerful humans in the series, his strength isn’t really relevant to the plot anymore. He’s still known for some impressive techniques, especially his signature move, the Tri-Beam.

Tien shined during the fight against Cell when he unleashed his powerful Neo Tri-Beam, an enhanced version of his signature move. While it briefly held Cell back and nearly worked, Vegeta and Krillin’s actions ultimately undid his efforts. Even so, the fact that Tien could even challenge an opponent so much stronger than himself is what makes that moment stand out even today.

9. Krillin – Destructo Disc

This move has the potential to be a significant improvement over previous ones in the series. Krillin, as Goku’s oldest friend, has also undergone considerable development as a character. Although he isn’t as powerful as Goku, Krillin is a skilled martial artist who has mastered some impressive techniques.

Krillin is best known for his Destructo Disc – a powerful attack that, despite looking amazing and being instantly associated with him, surprisingly doesn’t connect with enemies very often. While it should quickly defeat most opponents, it rarely does.

8. Android 18 – Infinity Bullet

Android 18 didn’t appear until later in the Dragon Ball series, but she quickly became popular thanks to her part in the Android Saga. While she knows several moves—including Krillin’s Destructo Disc—she’s best known for her signature attack, the Infinity Bullet.

Android 18 has used her Infinity Bullet attack with different levels of effectiveness in both the present and future timelines. In the future, she often fires it when she’s angry, simply to destroy her surroundings. During her final battle with Future Trunks, she attempts to use the attack, but he easily blocks it.

7. Piccolo – Special Beam Cannon

Piccolo first fired the Special Beam Cannon when Raditz attacked Earth. While it’s a visually impressive attack, it’s most remembered for what happened during that battle. Piccolo and Goku were rivals at the time, but they teamed up to fight Raditz. The Special Beam Cannon became famous because it was the attack that killed Goku – and his brother – for the very first time.

To defeat Raditz, Goku bravely held him off while Piccolo gathered energy for a powerful attack. This attack ultimately pierced both Saiyans, creating fatal wounds. Although Goku was later revived, the sacrifice he made in that moment has remained a memorable part of the series for fans.

6. Goten – Kamekameha

Even with his powerful family background, Goten isn’t a particularly remarkable fighter. He’s definitely capable and can usually handle himself, but he doesn’t really shine compared to others.

Goten fights a lot like his dad and brother, but his signature move, the Kamekameha, is a bit of a mess – both the name and how he does it are sloppy. This fits his easygoing personality, though he could probably benefit from taking his training a little more seriously.

5. Trunks – Double Buster

While not quite as powerful as he would later become, Trunks proved to be a capable fighter. Similar to his father, he’s generally calm and confident – some might even say a little arrogant – during battles. His dedication to training helped him develop a strong skillset.

His most recognizable attack is likely the Double Buster, which works a lot like Future Trunks’ Buster Cannon. It’s a powerful move, but not as strong as the best attacks used by Vegeta, Gohan, or Goku.

4. Future Trunks – Burning Attack

This version of Future Trunks is a lot more experienced in battle compared to the Trunks we usually see. He’s famous for his Buster Cannon, but his signature energy blast – similar to moves like the Kamehameha – is called the Burning Attack.

Future Trunks uses a complex energy wave against Mecha Frieza, quickly distracting him before delivering the final blow. What makes this technique special is its elaborate execution – Trunks performs a series of fast arm movements, setting it apart from simpler energy attacks.

3. Gohan – Masenko

While Gohan has used the Kamehameha wave throughout the series, it’s more famously known as his father’s move. Gohan also learned the Masenko from Piccolo, and it’s become a signature technique for him, even though Piccolo originally created it.

Gohan frequently uses this attack throughout the series, but it’s most iconic from his childhood, particularly during the battles with the Saiyans and Frieza. While he has many different abilities, fans will always remember him for this one.

2. Vegeta – Galick Gun

Vegeta is known for his incredible and iconic attacks. Although moves like the Big Bang Attack and Final Flash are among his most powerful and recognizable, the Galick Gun was the first technique that truly showcased his immense strength to viewers.

The battle where Vegeta’s Galick Gun collided with Goku’s Kamehameha on Earth is a truly unforgettable scene, showcasing both fighters giving their absolute best. While Vegeta has since developed stronger versions of the Galick Gun, the original remains the most memorable.
