As a long-time fan of Dragon Ball Z and now Dragon Ball Super, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing some truly epic battles between the most powerful warriors in Universe 7. Among them all, none have left me as awestruck as the fusion of Goku and Vegeta, also known as Gogeta Blue.

As a dedicated fan of Dragon Ball, I’ve always been captivated by the intriguing concept of character fusion woven into the storyline. Since the inception of the Z era, this franchise has never failed to impress us with unique ways of merging characters, be it through absorption or assimilating others into their being. However, the Saiyans were an exception, devoid of any natural means to fuse. To fill this gap, the creators ingeniously introduced the Potara Earrings and the Fusion Dance. These innovative methods led to the formation of the powerful Gogeta.

Two warriors, acting in perfect unison, become a formidable force as one. They combine their strengths, enhancing not just their individual powers but also gaining an extra boost. Although introduced later in the series, Gogeta is a powerful character in Dragon Ball, capable of employing God Ki to transform into his Super Saiyan Blue avatar.

Broly Arc

For about two decades, Gogeta has been a beloved character in the franchise, making his debut in the “Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn” film. In this story, Gogeta emerged as Goku and Vegeta’s powerful solution to overcome the menacing Janemba. Although his screen time was limited, Gogeta left an indelible mark on fans with his captivating demeanor, striking appearance, and impressive arsenal of moves.

In their second encounter, which took place during “Dragon Ball GT,” Goku and Vegeta discovered that even in Super Saiyan 4 form, they couldn’t harm the Shadow Dragon, Omega Shenron. This revelation led them to merge into Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, a fan-favorite character who held the title of strongest series character for approximately two decades!

We are Gogeta! Kakarot and Vegeta have merged together to take Broly down!

In the thrilling Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie from 2018, I finally witnessed the canon appearance of Gogeta. The powerful enemy we faced was beyond anything Goku and Vegeta could handle, even in their Super Saiyan Blue forms. Facing this common threat, we set aside our differences and merged into one form – Gogeta. Similar to Vegito Blue, Gogeta possessed the abilities of both warriors, allowing us to unleash a combined power that was truly awe-inspiring. We could even transform into Super Saiyan Blue together.

In the beginning of their fierce battle, Gogeta showcased his immense power by facing Broly in both his regular and Super Saiyan forms. However, to ensure a swift victory, Gogeta transitioned into Super Saiyan Blue, leaving Broly no chance. After recognizing this strongest transformation, not a single hit landed on Gogeta, and had Broly not been taken away by the Dragon Balls’ teleportation power, he would have met his end.

Gogeta’s Personality

As a gamer, I’ve noticed an interesting shift in the character of Gogeta within the franchise. At first, he came across as incredibly stern and serious. But as I progressed through the games and stories, I saw a different side of him.

Using the Potara, Vegito was formed, correct? Let’s try this instead: Before, we had Vegito. Now let’s give it a name, how about “Fusion-Gohan” or “Super-Saiyan Fusion”? What about “Gogeta” as an alternative name?

Gogeta exhibits a character more like Goku’s, who is characterized by an insatiable curiosity and the drive to challenge himself, in contrast to Vegeta and Vegito who boastfully prey on weaker opponents. Gogeta’s resemblance to Goku is further highlighted through his compassionate actions towards enemies, as seen when he saves Frieza from Broly’s destructive rampage despite their past conflicts.

The Strength of Gogeta Blue

One of the franchise’s strongest characters

Dragon Ball: Gogeta Blue, Explained

Gogeta Blue is formed by combining the strongest warriors from Universe 7, resulting in an exceptionally skilled fighter. By bringing together Goku’s natural abilities, techniques, and talents with Vegeta’s tactical intelligence, immense strength, and overwhelming power, we get a truly formidable combatant who ranks among the most accomplished fighters in the series, second only to Vegito. This was evident during Gogeta’s encounter with Broly, as the Legendary Super Saiyan failed to inflict any damage on him.

During the battle between Gogeta and Broly, some of the most remarkable abilities were showcased, surpassing anything seen before in the series. Gogeta shattered the boundary between dimensions, leading both him and Broly into an unfamiliar realm, leaving them clueless about their location. The remainder of the fight saw Gogeta mercilessly overpowering Broly. Despite being much stronger than Goku and Vegeta’s Blue forms in his regular Super Saiyan state, Broly’s Legendary Super Saiyan form was powerless against Gogeta’s Blue form, failing to land a single hit.

Notable Techniques

  • Stardust Fall: An unending wave of Ki that covers a very wide area. Each blast is incredibly powerful and Gogeta releases hundreds of them.
  • Meteor Explosion: An incredibly powerful rush attack that Gogeta uses to incapacitate his opponent, causing an explosion from seemingly within them.
  • Ultimate/Full-Force Kamehameha: Perhaps the strongest iteration of the Kamehameha that fans have ever seen, since it would have easily decimated Broly if he hadn’t been saved.
  • Stardust Breaked: A unique move that has been a part of Gogeta’s arsenal since his initial appearance. It causes an incredible amount of damage and can completely erase characters who have evil in their hearts.

Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
