This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of Dragon Ball Daima (Episode 19).
Summary
- Dragon Ball Daima, inspired by GT, includes thrilling moments like Vegeta unlocking SSJ3.
- Fans speculate if Vegeta will unlock SSJ4 in Daima, drawing parallels to GT & its requirements.
- The absence of Vegeta’s SSJ3 form in Dragon Ball Super may be due to the energy drain it incurs, unlike SSJ4 speculation in Daima.
The Dragon Ball Daima anime series will conclude in a week’s time, and despite being the shortest Dragon Ball TV show to date, it promises to be an exceptional one. Drawing inspiration from Dragon Ball GT and recapturing the iconic feel of classic Dragon Ball, Daima is jam-packed with memorable moments that have now become part of what many fans consider as canon.
Prior to Goku’s metamorphosis into Super Saiyan 4 in Episode 18, one of the most exhilarating moments of the series occurred when Vegeta underwent his first transformation into Super Saiyan 3 within the confines of the show’s anime universe.
Unlocking SSJ3 In Dragon Ball Daima
In the twelfth episode, Vegeta achieves Super Saiyan 3 form during a fight against Tamagami Number Two, one of the guardians of the Dragon Balls in the Demonic Realm. This transformation gives him the edge to overcome Tamagami 2. Later on, in the nineteenth episode, as an adult, Vegeta activates this powerful state once more.
In this exciting moment for fans, there’s no hidden mystery at play. Goku is taken aback by Vegeta’s transformation into Super Saiyan 3, as he was unaware of Vegeta’s ability to achieve this form. However, Bulma confidently reveals that Vegeta has been putting in a lot of effort in his training, hinting that it’s been quite some time since Vegeta first mastered this transformation.
Is Vegeta Able to Transform into SSJ4?
In Episode 18, Goku transformed into Super Saiyan 4, sparking speculation among fans about whether Vegeta might also achieve this form, as he did in Dragon Ball GT. If the ability is solely dependent on power and Vegeta’s known for giving his all, it’s likely he could accomplish it. However, the actual requirements to unlock it are what will ultimately decide if he can or not.
It appears that Neva’s magic significantly contributed to Goku’s metamorphosis. Moreover, there’s speculation that Saiyans might require a tail for transforming into Super Saiyan 4. Although Vegeta lost his tail during Dragon Ball Z, he can regrow it in DBGT. However, in Super, Vegeta doesn’t have a tail and hasn’t been able to grow it back in the series so far.
If Vegeta manages to achieve SSJ4 form, there’s a possibility we could see Gogeta in his SSJ4 as well within the storyline. Since Dragon Ball GT has been established as the basis for Daima, it’s not too far-fetched to speculate that they might include this significant nod towards the series finale.
But What About Dragon Ball Super?
Why didn’t Vegeta transform into a Super Saiyan 3 during Dragon Ball Super when it’s known that he can do so, especially in his battle with Beerus? After all, Daima is said to have occurred before Dragon Ball Super.
At the moment, no clear reason has been provided. However, given Bulma’s response, it seems plausible that he chose not to transform due to lack of interest. Yet, this is surprising when we consider Vegeta, who often seeks to outdo Goku. Interestingly, SSJ3 is a transformation that requires significant energy, which might explain his reluctance.
Based on the reasoning presented, it’s likely that Vegeta transformed into Super Saiyan 3 during his fight with Tamagami 2, as he anticipated the encounter to be swift due to its brief nature.
For numerous fans, the explanation behind Vegeta’s decision not to utilize it later is rooted in this hiccup, and although it seems plausible, it feels peculiar that he transformed against Gomuh but didn’t do so when facing Beerus. It could be that the battle with Gomuh helped him understand how risky the transformation can be – or perhaps it has more to do with his belief that he had a chance against Gomuh if he used his SSJ3 abilities, but Beerus was on a higher level, so he opted to conserve energy rather than activate SSJ3 when fighting Beerus.
In essence, the idea of saving energy resonates with understanding. Vegeta aims to be powerful, as well as demonstrate his strength, yet he likely perceives a form that rapidly depletes energy as overly risky and suitable for specific, strategic instances instead.
When Will Dragon Ball Daima Episode 20 Be Released?
The series schedule, if no delays are suddenly announced, should be as follows:
- Episode 19: February 21
- Episode 20 (final): February 28
As of now, there hasn’t been any official announcement about a follow-up to “Dragon Ball Daima,” and in a recent conversation, producer Akio Iyuko hinted that they aren’t currently developing a second season. For many fans, the series doesn’t necessarily require a sequel.
At the moment, you can catch “Dragon Ball Daima” on Crunchyroll and Hulu, with a simulcast. Depending on your location, it’s also accessible on Netflix, MAX, and various other platforms (usually available later).
