Summary
- Dragon Ball SD chapters now free on YouTube, still mostly limited to Japanese audience.
- Dragon Ball SD is a chibi-style remake of the original manga aimed at children.
- Dragon Ball Super manga to return this month, focusing on Goten and Trunks, potential internet sensation.
Several chapters of “Dragon Ball SD” can be watched for free on YouTube! While this popular franchise has been around for a while, it’s unfortunate that not all Dragon Ball media is accessible to global audiences. However, the more highly anticipated installments typically manage to break through and reach fans outside Japan.
Dragon Ball SD is often overlooked as a spin-off, despite being published in Japan for more than fourteen years. It fails to garner much attention outside Asia.
Now, you can enjoy reading more smoothly since the official Saikyo Jump channel has posted the initial chapter of the series on YouTube. It offers sound effects and background music, making it more immersive, though it’s in Japanese (and if you’re learning it, I recommend giving it a shot).
Apart from the initial chapter, they shared an additional video containing Chapters 1 through 20 (Parts 1 and 2) – this one too is in Japanese.
What Is The Dragon Ball SD Manga?
Dragon Ball SD can be seen as a reimagined version of the original manga, with characters depicted in a “chibi” or super-deformed style, which is appealing to younger audiences. The narrative remains faithful to the original storyline, yet author Naho Ooishi occasionally introduces humor and foreshadowing references to future events.
Apart from Dragon Ball, Ooishi has also developed several spin-offs. These include Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock from 2011, as well as Oh!! New Gadget Super Lovers which began in 2008 and is still ongoing, the manga adaptation of Dragon Ball: The Return of Son Goku and Friends! (2009), and more.
The videos were published to mark the launch of Dragon Ball SD Volume 11 in Japan. This ongoing series, comprising more than 70 episodes, is now delving into the Androids Saga.
The manga that began serialization in 2010 within Saikyo Jump doesn’t yet have an official English translation.
More Dragon Ball Content Coming This Month
This month, I’m beyond excited to share that, aside from Dragon Ball SD, we’re about to delve into a fresh installment of Dragon Ball Super in V-JUMP! The manga took a break following the passing of the legendary Akira Toriyama in early 2024. This upcoming chapter will be all about Goten and Trunks, and with its potential for creating a stir online, it’s safe to say it could set the internet ablaze!
The chapter was marked as exceptional, yet there’s a chance they might provide a timeframe for the series to resume its normal broadcast.
Dragon Ball Super as well as the original manga are published in the US by VIZ Media.
