Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Announces ‘The Dramatic Showdown’ Tournament

As a seasoned Dragon Ball fan with over two decades of watching and playing, I am beyond excited for Sparking Zero’s non-traditional esports tournament, ‘The Dramatic Showdown’. The prospect of witnessing epic battles unfold across nine regions, culminating in the grand finals at Battle Hour 2025, has my heart racing like a saiyan in heat!

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has unveiled an unusual esports competition titled ‘The Dramatic Showdown’. This tournament is set to kick off in November 2024 and will culminate at the Dragon Ball: Games Battle Hour 2025 event, held in Los Angeles, CA from January 18-19, 2025.

Sparking Zero: The Dramatic Showdown Schedule

As an enthusiastic fan, I’m thrilled to share that the online qualifiers for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero The Dramatic Showdown are set to kick off on November 16, 2024, wrapping up on December 8, 2024. In these exciting weeks, we’ll be witnessing the rise of 9 champions from 9 different regions: Mexico, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Japan, Spain, Italy, USA East, and USA West. Each region will host its own tournament to determine their representative in this global spectacle!

Moreover, it’s been announced that an additional seven competitors will secure their spot in the Grand Finals during the tournament scheduled for Battle Hour on January 18, 2025. Consequently, the Grand Finals will see a total of sixteen combatants.

The Dramatic Showdown Format, Rules and More

Qualifiers

The rules for Sparking Zero: The Dramatic Showdown’s online and Battle Hour qualifiers are the same. The platform of choice is PlayStation 5, and the tournament format will be best-of-three games (first to two wins), single elimination.

In this matchup, we’ll be playing a team-based game called DP Battle. Each player gets to select a squad of 15 characters using DP as the currency. The rule is that winners must keep their chosen characters for the subsequent games, whereas losers have the option to switch up their teams. No items will be permitted in this battle, and there are no stage restrictions. We’ll also set a time limit of 600 seconds for each round.

Grand Finals

For the Final Showdown of “Sparking Zero: The Dramatic Showdown,” players who have qualified from regional tournaments and Battle Hour qualifiers will be required to pick characters from a predetermined list. These characters were selected during the producer’s video message through a draw. Players can select any form they prefer from their assigned character to initiate their battles. Here is a breakdown of which champions have been assigned to each region:

  • France – Goku (Super) Ultra Instinct
  • Mexico – Golden Frieza
  • Germany – Super Baby 2 (GT)
  • Italy – Broly (Super), Super Saiyan (Full Power)
  • Spain – Future Trunks, Super Saiyan
