Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Can’t Take its Next Generation for Granted

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Can't Take its Next Generation for Granted

As a lifelong Dragon Ball fan who’s been through thick and thin with Goku, I can confidently say that it’s high time Goten and Trunks stepped into the spotlight of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. These two have been relegated to the background for far too long, and it’s about time they showed us what they’ve got!

In the game “Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero,” an impressive 180+ characters are included, leading one to think that no detail was overlooked in its creation. This is mostly correct, as only a handful of significant parts of the series have been omitted. When it comes to rectifying these omissions, “Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero” should be especially meticulous about incorporating new characters from future generations.

In the game Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, it appears that developers struggle to incorporate manga-exclusive characters or storylines directly. Yet, several characters’ movesets subtly hint at their manga origins. Given this context, the dynamic duo from the upcoming Dragon Ball Super would be a great addition to the action.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero DLC Should Give Goten and Trunks the Spotlight

Dragon Ball Super’s Anime and Manga Have Plenty of Differences

Instead of directly following its manga source material, “Dragon Ball Super” deviates significantly in its adaptation. Notably, this divergence occurred after the manga continued beyond the anime’s broadcast, with Goten and Trunks assuming more substantial roles in the comic version compared to the anime.

It’s not surprising that Goten and Trunks often focus on comedic elements in the Dragon Ball series rather than action. They are not the main characters at this point, but they might become more central as the story progresses. Interestingly, for one of the biggest arcs in Dragon Ball Super’s manga, both Goten and Trunks took on the roles of dual protagonists.

In this part of the narrative, viewers found it particularly appealing as it delved deep into the essence of Dragon Ball. Additionally, its purpose was to gently transition the manga towards the Super Hero arc. Notably, this segment aligns closely with the debut of the Super Hero movie, which could hint at what fans might anticipate from Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s DLC.

The popular series, Dragon Ball Super, has been absent for quite a while now, and we’re yet to know when it might resume. There’s no hint about how the story will wrap up, but it appears strange that Goten and Trunks have lately been given more focus without any clear purpose. However, there’s speculation about Sparking Zero‘s potential to bring manga characters to life, which might have been avoided in the Super Hero film.

Teen Goten and Trunks Could Have a Fighting Chance in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

In the film “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero,” Gohan and Piccolo take the main roles, but don’t forget about Goten and Trunks too! They are indeed portrayed in their Teen versions, which is consistent with how they appear in the comics. This suggests that if they were to show up in “Sparking Zero,” they would first be recognized as movie characters based on their teenage forms from this film, rather than their manga counterparts.

There is still one major roadblock standing in the way of Goten and Trunks, and that’s their current role as part-time combatants. This could lead some to question whether Teen Goten and Trunks have enough to inspire a moveset off of, but this is pretty easily disproved. Of course, Goten and Trunks are already included in Dragon Ball: S parking Zero‘s roster as their younger selves. Furthermore, there are many more characters with much less fighting prowess who have still managed to carve out a unique identity.

Lastly, but certainly not insignificantly, Goten and Trunks possess a charm unique among all characters. They are recognized primarily for merging into Gotenks, a character who is both arrogant and extraordinarily powerful. To date, Teen Gotenks has yet to fully display his top fighting abilities, but introducing him in the Sparking Zero could reignite excitement by giving him his first appearance.

Including the latest versions of Goten and Trunks in “Sparking Zero” would serve multiple purposes at once. It would align with the manga, preview the anime’s future, and perhaps delight fans – a triple benefit! Thus, it appears that “Dragon Ball Super”‘s upcoming generation are ideal choices for expansion packs in “Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero”.
