Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Episode Battles Guide: Piccolo

As a long-time fan of Dragon Ball Z, I can’t help but feel nostalgic as we delve deeper into this captivating universe. The events unfolding before us are a testament to the resilience and determination of our beloved characters.

In this article, we’ll delve into the much-loved game mode of Bandai Namco’s newest 3D fighter, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The mode that has captured players’ hearts is called Episode Battles. This game mode recreates memorable scenes from the anime and offers branching storylines with unique, never-before-seen scenarios. In this Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Episode Battles guide, we’ll explore all the various paths and alternate endings for Piccolo.

In this game, players need to be aware of two primary categories of story branches: main plot deviations (paths) and distinct conclusions to ongoing battles within the series (alternate endings). Paths represent significant shifts in the narrative timeline, where your choices influence future events. Alternate endings, however, simply provide various resolutions to existing conflicts within the game’s series. Notably, some alternate paths may include exclusive cutscenes called Sparking! Episodes, which are specially designed for these unique moments. This tutorial will walk you through all the branching paths and unlockable alternate endings related to Piccolo’s storyline.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Episode Battles Guide: Goku Saiyan Saga

Vegeta Vs Piccolo

The first alternate ending for Piccolo’s Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Episode Battles arrives during his second fight in the Saiyan Saga. The ending is called Vegeta Vs Piccolo, and it can be unlocked if players can defeat Nappa quickly during ‘The Saiyans Attack’ mission, not giving him a chance to breathe.

If Piccolo manages to defeat Nappa in this scenario, he can avoid his untimely demise while protecting Gohan. Typically, Vegeta eliminates Nappa, and then challenges Piccolo. In this phase of the storyline, you’ll find yourself facing off against Vegeta. Overcoming Vegeta will lead you back to the original plot points, with the fight between Goku and Vegeta marking the end of the Saiyan Arc.

A Mentor’s Guidance

In the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero’s Episode Battles, Piccolo encounters a fork in the road during the Namek Saga. To access the ‘A Mentor’s Guidance’ side-path, players need to swiftly defeat Frieza during the mission ‘Piccolo Returns to His Birthplace’.

Upon arriving on Namek, Piccolo significantly boosts his strength by assimilating a fellow Namkeian combatant named Nail. Empowered, Piccolo swiftly moves to shield Gohan and himself from Frieza. In this stage of the game, players engage in combat with Frieza, who transitions through his 2nd and 3rd forms. To unveil the hidden ending, you’ll need to vanquish Frieza expeditiously. It appears that repeatedly using Special Beam Cannons and Sparking! Mode abilities are your most effective options.

Overcoming this challenge will open up a fresh course where Frieza recognizes Piccolo’s power. You’ll engage Frieza in his ultimate form until the fight concludes, but the ending depicts Piccolo finding it tough against Frieza, and Goku intervenes later to rescue the day. The events that follow are much like the anime, except Piccolo feels unsatisfied with his strength and desires to protect Namek and Goku. Consequently, Piccolo stepped up his training to ensure he wouldn’t find himself in a similar predicament again.

Backing Up Goku

As a gamer, I found myself navigating the ‘A Mentor’s Guidance’ storyline that intertwines with the anime’s narrative during the Cell Saga. In the ‘Faint Unease’ mission, it became evident that Goku was facing some tough times against the Androids. A pivotal moment arrived when I was given a choice: either choose to ‘Watch the battle unfold’ or ‘Lend a hand to Goku’. If I opted for the former, the original storyline would continue. However, if I decided to act, Piccolo would jump into the fray against Android 19 and 20 in an attempt to rescue Goku.

In this scenario, you’ll have to overcome Android 19. Unlike his typical response due to heart disease, Goku doesn’t pass out after the battle. Instead, he feels a problem brewing. During this particular timeline, Goku becomes incapacitated because of a spreading virus that prevents him from fighting. The medication can only be administered once the virus has fully taken control.

Training Gohan

Consequently, Piccolo is asked by him to tutor Gohan within the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Yet, prior to their training, Piccolo must engage in combat with Cell, who has recently assimilated Android 17. Now, it’s time for you to confront Cell’s second form. Fortunately, Goku arrives to lend assistance, enabling Piccolo and Gohan to flee and prepare for training within the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. In this instance, you will face off against Future Trunks (or Kid Gohan), giving you the choice to refine his mind or physical abilities.

Cell Games

Subsequently, the Cell Games transpired; this occasion marked Piccolo’s preparedness to confront Cell initially. In this battle, you are to face Perfect Cell. Despite putting up a resilient fight, Piccolo lacks the necessary strength and finds himself taking heavy blows from Cell. It is at this juncture that Gohan intervenes.

In the heat of the moment, Gohan becomes furious upon witnessing his instructor being attacked, transforming into Super Saiyan 2. He takes the battle to Cell, making it clear who’s in charge. However, the sequence of events diverges from the original anime storyline. Despite a momentary lapse in concentration, Gohan’s training with Piccolo helps him regain his composure. Gohan pleads with Cell to yield, but this provocation infuriates Cell, who attempts to destroy Earth. In a heroic act, Goku transports both himself and Cell away from the planet, ultimately sacrificing himself.

Currently, Gohan is powerless against Cell and must regain his strength. To create an opportunity for him, Piccolo once more enters the fight, keeping Cell occupied until Gohan is prepared. If you manage to defeat Cell in this mission, a new Sparking Episode will ensue. In this instance, rather than Goku intervening to aid Gohan, Gohan uses the training techniques he learned from Piccolo to surpass Cell. During the decisive battle, Piccolo plays a crucial role, helping tip the scales in favor of Gohan.

Pride of a Champion

In the special episode “Dragon Ball Sparking Zero: Battle Finale,” your task is to accomplish a goal during the ‘Android 17’ mission. In this mission, Piccolo engages in combat with Android 17, but Cell intervenes and attempts to absorb Android 17. If you manage to defeat both characters, a unique ending will be played.

At the end of this battle, Piccolo emerges victorious against Cell and dominates Android 17. Impressed by his power, the Androids retreat, ensuring that Cell is defeated permanently. Ultimately, Piccolo saves the day but expresses a desire to keep training with Gohan in order to grow stronger still.
