In the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z series, being a god wasn’t very impressive. Kami wasn’t as strong as any of the main heroes during the Saiyan Saga, and the Supreme Kai quickly became ineffective in the Majin Buu arc. However, Dragon Ball Super dramatically changed the concept of gods with the introduction of Beerus in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

In Dragon Ball, Gods and Angels are vastly more powerful than anyone else, making them the strongest beings in the series. While the Gods in Dragon Ball Super are incredibly strong, a handful of characters have become powerful enough to defeat one – though not usually Beerus. One character even managed to eliminate all the Gods in his universe except for Zeno.

9. Fused Zamasu Killed Every God in Future Trunks’ Timeline

Zamasu is unique among all the villains in the Dragon Ball series because he ultimately succeeds in his goals, even after being defeated. His plan to eliminate all mortals is fully realized – he destroys all the Supreme Kais and Gods of Destruction in his universe, then systematically kills every human being. The Dragon Ball Super manga suggests that only Trunks and Mai remain alive on Earth, highlighting the complete success of his scheme.
Both the manga and anime versions of Dragon Ball Super show Zamasu causing so much destruction in Future Trunks’ timeline that the supreme being, Zeno, is forced to completely wipe it from existence. Fused Zamasu is notable for being one of the few Dragon Ball characters who actually manages to kill a god—even multiple gods—though his methods are evil.
8. Jiren is Even Stronger Than His Universe’s God of Destruction

During the Universe Survival Saga, it’s clearly shown that Jiren is more powerful than Universe 11’s God of Destruction, Belmod. He also wasn’t truly defeated in the Tournament of Power; he dominated every opponent, even Ultra Instinct Goku. Jiren was only eliminated when Goku and Frieza teamed up and forced him out of the arena while Android 17 remained in the fight.
Since the Tournament of Power finished, Jiren has disappeared from view, but Goku still considers him a measure of ultimate strength, even in Dragon Ball Super: Broly. When at his peak, Jiren was powerful enough to defeat a God of Destruction. However, as a dedicated member of the Pride Troopers, he would never actually harm one. Jiren is Universe 11’s most celebrated hero and is committed to protecting its Gods at all costs.
7. Moro is the Only Villain Who Can Use Ultra Instinct

The central antagonist in the new Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime, Planet Eater Moro, begins as a foe slightly less powerful than Goku and Vegeta. However, his unique ability to drain energy from planets and living beings allows him to eventually reach a strength level comparable to Goku’s fully mastered Ultra Instinct form. Moro later expands his powers to also absorb abilities, granting him access to techniques normally reserved for Angels, like Ultra Instinct itself.
Goku was lucky that he’d just learned to perfectly control Ultra Instinct through training with Merus, allowing him to defeat Moro. However, Moro unexpectedly merged with Earth, making him incredibly powerful. It was only with help from Vegeta and Uub that Goku could finally deliver the final blow. If Moro had continued to grow stronger, he would have been able to destroy all the gods in every universe.
6. Broly’s Raw Power Makes Him a Potential God Killer

Broly is potentially the strongest Saiyan in the entire Dragon Ball universe. Even without any training, his natural power allowed him to defeat both Super Saiyan Goku and Vegeta, pushing them to transform into Super Saiyan Gods. As he battles, Broly continues to get stronger, eventually overpowering even Super Saiyan God Goku.
After transforming into a Super Saiyan, Broly becomes more powerful than Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan Blue forms, as well as Golden Frieza. He’s so incredibly strong that Goku and Vegeta have to combine into Gogeta, and even then, Gogeta needs to use Super Saiyan Blue to stand a chance. If Broly fully controls his power and anger, he’ll become nearly invincible, surpassing almost all of the Gods we’ve seen in the series.
5. Goku is Already Stronger Than Most Gods

While Goku might not be the strongest fighter in the Z-Fighters anymore, he remains incredibly powerful across all universes. He’s constantly getting stronger, and recent storylines, especially since the Tournament of Power, have shown him mastering Ultra Instinct. By the time of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Goku can combine his Super Saiyan transformations with Ultra Instinct and even send his energy out of his body as a separate entity.
While Goku isn’t quite as strong as Beerus yet, he’s almost certainly become more powerful than Jiren, putting him above most Gods of Destruction. He handled the Ultra Instinct form of Moro surprisingly well, at least before Moro transformed into a planet. Considering Beerus represents the peak strength in Dragon Ball Super, Goku probably won’t outgrow him until the series ends, but he’s getting incredibly close.
4. Vegeta is On His Way to Becoming Universe 7’s God of Destruction
For much of the Dragon Ball series, Vegeta always seemed to be one step behind Goku. But at the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, he finally beat Goku in a direct fight. His new transformation, Ultra Ego, puts him on equal footing with Goku’s Ultra Instinct, and gives him the potential to become even stronger than ever before.
During the Granolah the Survivor arc, Vegeta begins serious training with Beerus, aiming to become a Destroyer – essentially a God of Destruction in training. Before even achieving his Ultra Ego form or the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Vegeta was the first character in Dragon Ball Super to defeat a God of Destruction, accomplishing this by beating Toppo after mastering Super Saiyan Blue Evolution. With the power of Ultra Ego, Vegeta is certainly capable of defeating a God of Destruction.
3. Gohan Beast is the Strongest Z-Fighter After Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

At the end of Dragon Ball Z, Gohan was the most powerful fighter, but he fell from that position in Dragon Ball Super when he stopped training and characters began using God Ki. However, after achieving his Beast form in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Gohan has once again become the strongest fighter among the Z Fighters.
In Dragon Ball Super chapter 103, Gohan Beast proves to be incredibly powerful, defeating even Goku in his Mastered Ultra Instinct form. He also dominates a battle against Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Goten, and Trunks while in Super Saiyan form. Whis believes Gohan could even become the God of Destruction for Universe 7, placing him at a god-like level and capable of easily defeating weaker deities.
2. Black Frieza is a Genuine Threat to Dragon Ball’s Gods
While Gohan Beast is a remarkably strong fighter, Black Frieza is currently the most powerful mortal being in Dragon Ball Super. At the conclusion of the Granolah the Survivor Saga, he effortlessly defeats Gas with a single blow, and then quickly knocks out both Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta before they can even react. Frieza has reached a power level he’s never attained before.
Black Frieza is incredibly strong, and easily capable of defeating most Gods of Destruction. It’s unclear if he could win against Beerus, but if the Black Frieza arc is the end of Dragon Ball Super, then Beerus, the God of Destruction from Universe 7, is in significant danger.
1. Gogeta is the Only Mortal Who Has the Potential to Defeat Beerus

The intense rivalry between Goku and Vegeta actually makes them stronger when they combine into one being. While both Vegito and Gogeta are powerful fusions, Gogeta is the one who could potentially defeat a god. This isn’t because Vegito is weaker, but because the Potara earrings, which Vegito uses to fuse, can’t handle Vegito’s immense power without breaking. Gogeta, on the other hand, can transform into Super Saiyan Blue and even fight across different dimensions without separating.
Gogeta hasn’t faced a God-level opponent yet, but the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly suggests he could either fight or even win against Beerus. Even if he can’t beat Beerus, he’s powerful enough to defeat most other Gods in Dragon Ball Super. Considering Vegito was able to overwhelm Fused Zamasu a while back, Gogeta is almost certainly the strongest character capable of defeating Gods in the series.
