Today, the 24th volume of Dragon Ball Super was made available in Japan. Although no word has been given regarding the return date for Dragon Ball Super, creator Toyotaro shared an update assuring fans that he’s actively working on the upcoming chapters of the series.

In the upcoming chapter, we’ll embark on a brand new storyline. Although specifics about the show’s comeback are yet to be revealed, fans can take comfort in knowing that the series will carry on and before long, they’ll witness their cherished characters tackling fresh adversaries.

When Will Dragon Ball Super Return?

Typically, Toyotaro adds a note for readers at the end of each volume, and this time was no exception. In his note, he delved deeper into the backstory of Saiyamen X, revealing that it was an idea initially penned by Akira Toriyama in some notes which he later passed on to him.

On the other hand, it was this part of his statement that caught fans’ attention: He concluded by hinting at upcoming news about the manga, implying that he plans to continue serialization at some point. Regrettably, he didn’t reveal any specific timeline for Chapter 205’s release.

It’s reassuring to learn that the manga is still being published, as it hasn’t been discontinued yet. Toriyama likely shared his vision for the plot with Toyotaro, but it seems Toyotaro might be finding it challenging to translate that into the story on his own. Toriyama reviewed Toyotaro’s storyboards and made adjustments to ensure they align with his ideas for Super.

Dragon Ball Super Is About To Start A New Arc

Chapter 203 marked the conclusion of the Super Hero Saga and seemed to serve as a bittersweet goodbye for the series, leading some fans to speculate whether Dragon Ball Super might conclude at that point, given the news about Toriyama’s passing. However, the series took an indefinite break following this chapter.

In February, Chapter 204 was published, which presented an exceptional tale about how Goten and Trunks transformed into Saiyamen X prior to the beginning of the Super Hero Saga. However, contrary to what fans anticipated – that this would signal a resumption of regular publication for the series – it instead went back on hiatus again.

Toyotaro made it clear with his statement that the Super Hero Saga has concluded and a fresh storyline will commence in the next chapter. Some enthusiasts hypothesize that Black Frieza might feature in the upcoming arc because he’s depicted on the back cover of Volume 24, but this could merely be an artistic decision without bearing on the plot development.

Given that the front cover displays Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, and Piccolo at their peak power levels, positioning Black Frieza on the back cover aligns well with the overall theme of the cover. This placement might not necessarily hint at the upcoming story arc.

When Will Dragon Ball Super Volume 24 Be Released in English?

VIZ Media Has Yet To Announce It

As I follow along with the latest Dragon Ball Super chapters appearing on MANGA Plus concurrently with their Japanese debut, it’s worth noting that VIZ Media seems to be taking a bit longer to distribute these volumes in the United States. At this moment, there hasn’t been any announcement regarding the release date for the English version of Volume 24 yet.

Instead, expect the release to occur towards the end of 2025, or possibly early 2026. With Volume 23 hitting shelves this month, it’s likely that we’ll hear about Volume 24 within a few weeks from now, courtesy of VIZ Media.
