After being announced at the Dragon Ball Genkidama Matsuri event earlier this year, the new anime, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, is starting to reveal details. The latest news introduces the series’ main villain: Planet Eater Moro. Moro first appeared in chapter 43 of Dragon Ball Super, titled “Joining the Galactic Patrol!”, and is an incredibly old wizard who escapes from the Galactic Patrol’s custody and begins causing chaos throughout Universe 7.

I’m excited about the new Dragon Ball Super movie, which will cover the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner’ saga – many fans know it as the ‘Moro arc’. Moro is a seriously powerful villain, arguably the strongest Dragon Ball Super has seen since Perfect Cell back in the Dragon Ball Z days. The manga story is 25 chapters long, and it sounds like the anime is aiming to adapt it at a rate of one chapter per episode, which should keep the story moving at a good pace, just like the original manga by Toyotarou.
Goku & Vegeta Are About to Meet Their Match in Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol
V-Jump describes Moro as a planet-draining threat, but that doesn’t fully capture how powerful he becomes. Initially, Moro isn’t as strong as Goku or Vegeta, but he quickly gains enough energy to surpass them both. At his strongest, Moro is an incredibly powerful enemy – a true god-level villain – and can only be defeated with the aid of Ultra Instinct.
I watched as Moro repeatedly defeated Goku and Vegeta throughout the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, inflicting some truly brutal injuries – the worst I’ve seen in all of Dragon Ball. He’s not just powerful, but incredibly cruel, wiping out entire planets with a savagery that reminded me of Frieza. It became clear that Goku and Vegeta would have to reach a whole new level of strength if they ever hoped to beat him in Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol.
Moro Will Be Dragon Ball Super’s Best Villain Since Zamasu & Goku Black
Many fans consider Zamasu and Goku Black to be the greatest villains in Dragon Ball Super, but Moro is quickly becoming a strong contender. Although Zamasu’s reasons for his actions are more understandable, Moro has a compelling history, greatly adds to the Dragon Ball universe, and possesses a remarkably diverse range of powers. By the arc’s conclusion, Moro has mastered numerous abilities and even briefly gained access to the powerful Ultra Instinct technique.
What makes Moro such a great villain is how he forces Goku and Vegeta to grow as characters. He makes Goku question what it truly means to protect everyone, pushing him to quickly perfect Ultra Instinct. For Vegeta, Moro’s attacks on New Namek force him to confront his past mistakes. While Vegeta knows he can’t fully make up for them, he’s determined to embrace his power and become the hero he wants to be. Many fans believe this is the most compelling character development for both Goku and Vegeta since the original Dragon Ball Z series.
