It seems like everyone dreams of living forever, but that desire is especially strong for the villains in Dragon Ball. I’ve noticed, going all the way back to the Demon King Piccolo, that these characters are constantly after the Dragon Balls, hoping to wish for either eternal youth or complete invincibility. Even later in Dragon Ball Z, Vegeta and Frieza were originally driven by the same goal: using the Dragon Balls to become immortal.
While true immortality is rare for villains in the Dragon Ball series, it’s not unheard of. Across Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball DAIMA, Dragon Ball Super, and even Dragon Ball Heroes, a few villains have achieved it. These immortal villains have a wide range of power levels, with some being significantly stronger than others.
6. Garlic Jr. Was the First Dragon Ball Character to Ever Achieve Immortality

Garlic Jr. is the primary antagonist of the Dragon Ball Z movie The Dead Zone and a storyline in the DBZ anime series. He’s notable for being the first villain in the Dragon Ball universe to achieve immortality. He made a wish on the Dragon Balls, becoming virtually unbeatable. Despite their strength, neither Goku nor Piccolo could truly defeat him in battle.
Garlic Jr. was defeated when Gohan pushed him into the Dead Zone, and he later returned only to be defeated the same way. In the first Dragon Ball Z movie, his power level was comparable to Raditz. However, by the time of his own story arc in DBZ, he was only slightly weaker than Frieza in his second form.
5. Giant Gomah Was Functionally Immortal With the Evil Third Eye in His Possession

Known as the Tertian Oculus, the Evil Third Eye is an incredibly powerful artifact in the Dragon Ball series. First appearing in Dragon Ball DAIMA, it grants the user amazing abilities, including near-immortality. The only way to truly defeat someone wielding the Evil Third Eye is to land three consecutive blows to the back of their neck; otherwise, they are invincible.
Gomah transforms into Giant Gomah when he activates his Evil Third Eye. Despite Super Saiyan 4 Goku being much stronger, he couldn’t actually defeat Gomah. Goku’s incredibly powerful Transcendent Power Kamehameha, which shook the entire Demon Realm and blasted through Gomah’s chest, couldn’t keep him down because the Evil Third Eye instantly healed him. Ultimately, the heroes were only victorious because Majin Kuu intervened.
4. Zamasu Used the Super Dragon Balls to Make Himself Invincible
Zamasu is a remarkably powerful Supreme Kai in Dragon Ball Super, but his intelligence is what truly makes him a threat. After fighting Goku and observing his battle with Hit (through a video in the manga), Zamasu becomes deeply troubled by the possibility of a human achieving god-like power.

Zamasu, already despising humans, researched Goku by finding Zuno and learning everything about him. He then used the Super Dragon Balls to become immortal. After wiping out all the Supreme Kais and the Gods of Destruction in his universe, Zamasu traveled to another timeline using the Time Ring. There, he found another version of himself and together they wished to switch bodies, with Zamasu taking over Goku’s form and becoming Goku Black.
3. Mechikabura is One of the Strongest Dragon Ball Villains No One Knows Exists

I’ve always found Mechikabura to be a really interesting, though lesser-known, villain in the world of Dragon Ball. He’s not part of the main story – you’ll find him in the Dragon Ball Heroes series. He’s the big bad in the Dark Empire arc and the whole Dark King Mechikabura Saga. What makes him stand out is his incredible ability to absorb absolutely anything, and I mean anything – even abstract ideas! He even manages to absorb time itself, which basically makes him immortal. It’s a pretty wild power!
Mechikabura is too powerful to defeat through normal fighting. The only solution is to trap him. In the Super Dragon Ball Heroes anime, Super Saiyan 4 Vegito battles Mechikabura directly, allowing Super Saiyan God Trunks and the Supreme Kai of Time, Chronoa, to seal him away using Trunks’ Key Sword and put him into a deep slumber.
2. Fused Zamasu Destroyed Future Trunks’ Timeline With His Immortality

Zamasu and Goku Black aren’t incredibly strong individually, but their fusion, using the Potara earrings, creates an exceptionally powerful villain in Dragon Ball Super. This fused form, known as Fused Zamasu, is incredibly dangerous due to his mastery of God Ki, Kai Ki, and Saiyan Ki, the added power from the Potara fusion, and his immortality. Although Super Saiyan Blue Vegito briefly gains the upper hand, the fusion is temporary, and Goku and Vegeta can’t finish the job before it wears off.
Even Super Saiyan Blue Vegito probably couldn’t have defeated Fused Zamasu. The Dragon Ball Super manga shows Zamasu surviving a direct hit from Goku’s Hakai, a technique that’s meant to completely erase anything it touches. Zamasu was so immortal that he spread to Trunks’ entire universe, forcing Goku to get Future Zeno to wipe out the whole timeline just to stop him.
1. Zeno Literally Can’t Die
If you really consider it, Zeno is a pretty scary figure. He’s essentially the closest thing Dragon Ball has to a god, having created the entire multiverse. He can destroy anything instantly, and to top it off, he acts like a child. This means someone constantly has to keep him happy, because his outbursts could wipe out an entire universe.
Zeno hasn’t ever fought, but Dragon Ball Super shows us he’s completely indestructible. At the end of the Goku Black storyline, he wipes out the entire universe, leaving only himself existing in an empty void. Unlike other characters in Dragon Ball, Zeno isn’t just strong – he’s naturally immortal, which makes him incredibly dangerous and powerful.
