Throughout the entire Dragon Ball series, fusion is easily one of the most popular ideas. Whether it’s achieved through the Metamoran Dance or the Potara Earrings, the concept of combining two strong warriors into an even more powerful single being is considered one of the best in anime.

The Dragon Ball series features numerous fusions, with most being powerful fighters, though not all. But five fusions stand out as the absolute strongest in the entire series, and in this article, we’ll explore exactly who they are and why.

Gotenks Was Young And Brash, But Was Incredibly Powerful

The Union of Goten and Trunks

  • A prodigy who achieved Super Saiyan 3.

Gotenks is arguably the strongest fusion character in the series. He quickly mastered the Super Saiyan 3 transformation, a remarkable feat considering his component parts, Goten and Trunks, could only achieve the standard Super Saiyan form, and had only seen Goku use Super Saiyan 3 once.

Gotenks showed immense power, even being able to fight Super Buu, who was the strongest villain up to that point in the series. What makes him unique, though, is that he was very young and hadn’t learned to fully control his abilities, often pushing himself too far. While clearly strong, Gotenks still needs a lot more training and a significant increase in power to compete with even stronger opponents in the future.

Kefla Was The Strongest Fusion In The Entire Tournament Of Power

Everyone was stunned when Grand Zeno unexpectedly announced that fusions were now permitted during the Tournament of Power, immediately leading fans to speculate about Vegito or Gogeta. Instead, the fusion that actually happened was Kefla, a remarkably strong fighter created when Kale and Caulifla – the most powerful Saiyans from Universe 6 – joined forces.

Kefla was Universe 6’s most powerful fighter, living up to all expectations. Created by fusing two incredibly strong warriors who had surpassed Super Saiyan 2, she battled both Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultimate Gohan – two of the most famous and formidable fighters in the series.

Merged Zamasu Brought Forth The Powers Of Two Gods

The Union of Two Zamasus

  • A malevolent deity.

Merged Zamasu was created when a Kai split himself into two beings and then forcibly fused them together using both the Time Rings and Potara Earrings. This resulting form was incredibly powerful, able to fight on equal footing with Super Saiyan Blue Vegito, who was considered the strongest being in the universe at the time.

The battle wasn’t a complete stomp; Merged Zamasu put up a surprisingly good fight. He was remarkably durable, even surviving Vegito’s most powerful attack, the Final Kamehameha, with hardly a scratch.

The Potara Union of Goku and Vegeta

  • The ultimate fusion.

Vegito is often considered the strongest fusion in Dragon Ball, and with good reason. He easily defeated the most powerful form of Majin Buu when he first appeared, and later, he was dominating Merged Zamasu in their fight. While Vegito was clearly stronger, he couldn’t defeat Zamasu permanently because the Potara earrings, which powered his fusion, had a time limit.

Some fans disagree with ranking Vegito as the second strongest fusion in the series, but it’s not about his power level. Vegito and Gogeta are equally strong. The issue is how long the fusion lasts. Vegito’s fusion, created with the Potara earrings, ended before the full 30 minutes because of his immense power. The Fusion Dance, used to create Gogeta, maintains a 30-minute fusion no matter how strong the fighter is.

Gogeta Is The Strongest And Most Stable Fusion In The Series

The Metamoran Union of Goku and Vegeta

  • The strongest Saiyan.

From what I’ve seen, the only real difference between Gogeta and Vegito is how long their fusion lasts. They’re basically equally powerful. While the Fusion Dance needed to create Vegito is really difficult, when it works, it results in a super stable fusion that lets them fully unleash their combined strength. Gogeta doesn’t have that time limit issue, though.

Similar to Vegito, Gogeta can now transform into his Super Saiyan Blue form thanks to Goku and Vegeta’s improved control over the transformation, making him more powerful than ever. When Gogeta fought Broly as Super Saiyan Blue, viewers noticed Broly couldn’t even land a single blow, demonstrating just how incredibly strong Gogeta has become.
