To get the “Medal Maniac” achievement in Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake, you need to collect 40 Mini Medals and trade them in to the Monarch of Medals, who is located in the south, to receive special rewards.
This guide will help you find all the Mini Medals in Dragon Quest I, including the Monarch of Medals, and show you what rewards you get for collecting them!
We suggest finishing Dragon Quest 1 HD and seeing the ending before you start collecting all the Mini Medals. This guarantees you can reach every part of the game and obtain a key that opens all locked chests and doors. If you try to find them too soon, you might not be able to access them all and will have to come back later.
How to Use Mini Medals in Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake
Find a Monarch
You can’t use Mini Medals in Dragon Quest 1 Remake until you unlock the southwestern part of the world map. You’ll get there automatically as you progress through the main story, shortly after visiting the Faerie Village.
This location is known as the Citadel of the Monarch of Medals. You can find its precise location in the images above, but it’s a pretty noticeable landmark!
