Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Demo Available Now

I’m so excited! Square Enix just released a demo for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, and you can play the beginning of the game absolutely free! It’s a great way to see if you’ll like it before buying.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is a modern update to the classic 2000 game. It boasts beautiful diorama-style graphics, improved gameplay, and a more focused story. You can play it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and the new Switch 2 starting February 5, 2026, and a free demo will be available before launch.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Demo’s Save Data Can Be Carried Over to the Full Version

A demo for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is now available, letting players start experiencing the game right away. The demo lets you play through the story in Ballymolloy, the first area you’ll visit. Importantly, any progress you make in the demo will transfer to the full game. Plus, you’ll receive a bonus item – the “Day Off Dress,” a special outfit to change Maribel’s appearance.

To transfer your progress from the Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined demo to the full game, you must use the same account on both. Keep in mind there’s a level cap for your character, skills, and the amount of gold you can earn. The special gift you receive in the demo can be found in the full game through the “Claim Special Rewards” menu.

So, Square Enix had some pretty big layoffs towards the end of last year, which is never good to hear. On top of that, they’re planning to use AI to handle a huge chunk – like 70% – of the quality assurance and bug fixing for their games by 2027. I’m curious, is anyone planning on checking out the Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Demo? Let me know what you think in the comments!
