Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Getting Rid of Casino and Other Content

The upcoming remake, *Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined*, will leave out certain features found in both the original early-2000s game and the Nintendo 3DS version. Specifically, some unique areas, story segments, and the casino’s gambling feature won’t be included in the reimagined version, according to the game’s creator.

The recent Nintendo Direct presentation excited fans with the announcement of *Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined*. Many had hoped for a classic *Dragon Quest* game to be re-released, and this reveal was a pleasant surprise. This reimagined version of the game, originally released in Japan in 2000, will feature an updated story, modern graphics, and voice acting.

Cut Content in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined

  • Casinos
  • Immigrant Town (The Haven)
  • Monster Meadows
  • Excellence Grading Organisation
  • El Ciclo scenario
  • Grondal scenario
  • Providence scenario

The team behind the upcoming *Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined* shared some details about content being left out of the remake during a presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2025. According to a translation by The Gamer, series creator Yuji Horii announced that several areas and scenarios won’t be included in the February 5, 2026 release. These omissions include Immigrant Town (also known as The Haven), Monster Meadows, the Excellence Grading Organization, and the Casino. Additionally, three side scenarios – El Ciclo, Grondal, and Providence – have been cut from the reimagined version.

Since it was first announced in September, the team working on the remake of *Dragon Quest 7* promised to make the main story more focused. While many fans consider the original *Dragon Quest 7* to be a classic, completing it can take around 100 hours. According to creator Yuji Horii, content that was removed from *Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined* didn’t significantly impact the core story, which is why those sections were cut. For instance, features like building a town (The Haven) and collecting friendly monsters (Monster Meadows), as well as the three casinos where players could win strong items, were removed.

Although the remake of *Dragon Quest 7* won’t include everything from the original game, fans can likely expect more *Dragon Quest* remakes soon. *Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake* came out in November 2024, and remakes of *Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D* are currently in development. Recent comments from the creator, Horii, suggest that remakes of *Dragon Quest 4*, *5*, and *6* – known as the Zenithian Trilogy – could also be on the way.
