Drake Reveals New Album in Stream, Throws Shade at Kendrick Lamar

Canadian hip-hop artist Drake recently dropped a new track titled “What Did I Miss?“. This release comes with a YouTube stream hinting at his upcoming ninth studio album, named “Iceman.” The song primarily addresses individuals who were involved in the well-known Drake versus Kendrick Lamar feud, and also takes further jabs at Kendrick Lamar.

Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar

Back in October 2023, the heated rivalry between Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar really took off with Drake’s song “First Person Shooter.” Initially, J. Cole claimed they were the top three artists in contemporary hip-hop, but Lamar later refuted this notion with a verse on “Like That,” stating it was all about him. From there, the conflict escalated as songs filled with jabs and insults were exchanged through various tracks. The climax of their feud came when Lamar performed his diss track “Not Like Us” during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show.

It appears that Drake is gearing up for his ninth album, focusing on the aftermath of his feud with Kendrick Lamar (as reported by Complex Music). On Independence Day, Drake dropped “What Did I Miss?” and hosted a YouTube live event called Iceman Episode 1. In this stream, Drake cruised around Toronto in an Iceman-themed truck, hung out at an Iceman-themed warehouse, consumed food, watched old clips of himself, and performed “What Did I Miss?” live. During the stream, Drake attracted a crowd, with most fans showing support; however, he reacted angrily to one fan who tried to criticize him.

What Did I Miss?

Currently, “What Did I Miss?” is making waves as the main topic. The tune has garnered a significant following, leaving some fans wondering if the song pertains to Lamar personally or the ongoing feud. However, the song primarily targets those who took part in the dispute on both sides instead of offering support. Although Lamar was the intended focus, the lyrics subtly reference Kendrick Lamar, such as when Drake sings “I saw bro in the Pop Out with them but been d*ckriding gang since headlines.” Here, “Pop Out” is a direct allusion to Lamar’s Pop Out concert in June 204, which was connected to the feud.

Information about what’s to come may be limited, but with certainty, fans might anticipate additional YouTube streams from Drake prior to its launch. Considering that the initial live stream was simply “episode one” of Iceman, it seems reasonable to assume there could be more episodes following suit.
