Dune Awakening Challenges Game’s Architects In New Contest

Funcom is aiming to add excitement for Dune: Awakening gamers, as the team has unveiled a fresh competition in which participants can secure rewards.

The competition is titled “Construct Your Sandscape,” and, as suggested by its name, it’s a building competition where players’ extraordinary constructions contribute to something that transcends mere game decoration.

The competition kicks off today, specifically on July 14, and continues until July 28, 2025, at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Entries received beyond that day and time won’t be eligible for evaluation. The winners will be disclosed on August 8, 2025.

Dune: Awakening Base Building Info On Rewards And How It Works

The picture you see showcases a structure designed by a Funcom developer, serving as a representation of the kind of CHOAM buildings the studio aims to create within the game, offering players a glimpse into their design aspirations.

Funcom has specified that for the contest, they’d like players to create structures that exhibit loyalty towards Atreides, devotion to Harkonnen, or neutrality with CHOAM as their faction. The structures can be a fortress, resting place, or any kind of building, as long as it aligns with the chosen faction’s theme. Players are allowed to combine different building parts and decorations, so for instance, you could use CHOAM components in an Atreides themed construction.

Judging criteria will center around the elements of “innovation, uniqueness, and alignment with the theme”. For this competition, Funcom developers will focus solely on evaluating the design of the external structure.

(3) Champions in First Position – One for the top Atreides construction design, one for the top Harkonnen creation, and one for the best CHOAM (neutral pieces) structure. The winning first-place submissions will be awarded a LEGO Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter!

Contenders for Second Place – There are two contenders each for Atreides, Harkonnen, and CHOAM. The winners in these categories will receive the Dune: Awakening Collector’s Box as a prize, presented by Madrinas.

Additionally, there will be “Notable Recipients” recognized across all categories. The number of these recipients isn’t fixed. If the creators find your submission particularly striking, you might find yourself among them and gain access to an exceptional in-game reward – the Atreides Battle Rifle. This unique item can be linked to your Steam account. Please note that both first place and runner-up winners will also receive this special in-game award.
