As a passionate fan of Dune: Awakening, I’ve noticed that some of my hard-earned items seem to have mysteriously vanished, leaving me feeling a bit disappointed. It appears the development team at Funcom has acknowledged this issue and suggested an unusual solution to this bug, which, though innovative, might not be as player-friendly as we would hope.
The popularity of Dune: Awakening has been on a downward trend lately, and the latest advice from the dev team might not be enough to win back those players who’ve chosen to step away. Here’s hoping for continued improvements that make the game more enjoyable for us all!
The game “Dune: Awakening” debuted on PCs on June 10th, and its initial Steam release saw a significant number of concurrent players exceeding 189,000. Initial impressions of the sci-fi survival game were positive, earning it a place in the “Mostly Positive” category on Steam with 74% player approval. However, recent developments have led to a change in opinions for some, as only 56% of reviews from the past month are favorable, and the peak player count in the last week dropped to just under 37,000.
Dune: Awakening Is Losing Players’ Items
A recent issue, surfaced following the game’s update on August 13 for Dune: Awakening, is a glitch affecting resources where players’ items are mysteriously vanishing from their inventories. This anomaly appears to manifest when players traverse between areas of the Deep Desert or transition to other maps. The development team has acknowledged this issue and plans to rectify it through a hotfix update scheduled for August 14. Until a long-term resolution is found, the team has offered a temporary workaround, though many players find it less than ideal.
Players can prevent the inventory loss bug in the game ‘Dune: Awakening’ by waiting for 10 minutes after filling their vehicle inventories before traveling. This temporary solution might only be needed for a day or two, but players are frustrated with the development team as they’re being asked to wait idle for extended periods. Some players feel that waiting after collecting Spice is pointless and have threatened to postpone exploring the Deep Desert or even refrain from playing until the issue is resolved.

Ever since the launch of Dune: Awakening approximately two months ago, I, along with many other players, have encountered more than just the item loss bug. Fortunately, the developers have already rectified an issue that facilitated the duplication of items, and they even temporarily halted Steam Family Sharing to thwart cheats and exploits. Previously, in July, the game compensated players for a glitch that accidentally wiped their bases and gear. However, there’s been no word yet from Funcom about offering reimbursement for the items lost due to this latest bug.
