Dune: Awakening Receives PC Release Date, Benchmark, Character Creator

In just a few months, you’ll get your chance to control the Spice and Arrakis.

Funcom has shared that the massive multiplayer, open-world survival title, “Dune: Awakening,” is set to debut on Steam on May 20th, 2025, priced at $49.99 USD.

Until now, those eager to traverse Arrakis early can download the Character Creation Tool & Performance Test Mode for a jumpstart in crafting their character, as well as a sneak peek into how the game performs on their specific system.

Those who decide to experiment with the character creation tool will have the opportunity to personalize their character’s look, select their home planet, social class, and mentor. Upon completion, they can transfer their character into the main game once it becomes available, and as a bonus, they’ll receive a unique Frameblade skin code for their knife that is exclusive to early adopters.

In my gaming world, I find myself on the sands of Arrakis, a breathtaking yet lethal landscape, far removed from the tales of the books and films. Here, Lady Jessica didn’t birth Paul Atreides, so his crusade never began. Instead, the enigmatic Fremen have vanished, leaving it to us, the players, to uncover the mystery behind their disappearance.

Upon reaching Arrakis, they’ll soon understand why it’s famed as the most perilous planet across the cosmos. They’ll have to cope not only with ferocious fauna like the sandworms, but also colossal sandstorms and even the unforgiving desert itself. Maintaining their stillsuit, gathering water from vanquished adversaries, discovering, trading, and consuming Spice, and doing whatever is necessary to endure the extreme conditions will be essential for their survival here.

Regrettably, although it’s been announced that Dune: Awakening will come out for both consoles and PC, the specific launch dates for PlayStation 5 and Xbox versions have yet to be disclosed.

For fans of the series, some exciting news! The filming for the next movie, Dune Messiah, is said to begin nearly a year early, which means it might arrive sooner than anticipated. Additionally, the HBO series Dune: Prophecy is planning a second season, ensuring there’s plenty more Dune-related content on its way – not forgetting the existing games that are already out there.
