A Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast recently shared photos online of an amazing basement makeover. They transformed the space into a dedicated game room, always ready to host campaigns. The room includes storage for game pieces, a mini fridge for drinks, and special lighting to create the atmosphere of torches.

First created in 1974, Dungeons & Dragons (DnD) is widely considered the game that started the role-playing game craze we see today, influencing both tabletop games and video games. Dungeons & Dragons features many different worlds to play in, such as Dragonlance, the Forgotten Realms, and Exandria—originally created by Matthew Mercer for the popular web series Critical Role. While DnD is traditionally played with friends over multiple sessions, video games like Baldur’s Gate 3 have also introduced many players to the Dungeons & Dragons universe.

Dungeons and Dragons Fan Crafts an Amazing Campaign Room By Hand

Many Dungeons & Dragons fans enjoy long-term gaming campaigns, but one dedicated player took it to the next level by transforming their basement into a permanent DnD “dungeon.” They shared photos of the incredible space on the official DnD subreddit. The pictures show the room from both the Dungeon Master’s perspective and from the top of the stairs. The centerpiece is a digital gaming table with seating for seven people. The creator built most of the dungeon by hand over six months, primarily during the winter. Each player station includes convenient features like cupholders, dedicated dice-rolling areas, and power outlets for devices.

The center of the Dungeons & Dragons game table held a large TV used to show battle maps. Fans underneath kept the TV cool, and a sheet of plexiglass protected the screen from dice and miniatures. The room felt immersive with animal hide rugs and a flickering chandelier above. The Dungeon Master had a mini fridge stocked with drinks and a dartboard nearby. To their left was a fireplace with a shield hanging over it. According to Prestigious-Gold4966, this shield could slide aside, revealing a hidden space for storing D&D monsters and figures.

The room’s fireplace wasn’t just for show – it included an electric heater that created a cozy, flickering effect like a pub fireplace, and the lights were designed to look like torches. Many Dungeons & Dragons players praised Prestigious-Gold4966 for the effort they put into building the incredible setup. Prestigious-Gold4966 explained that the idea for the table came from plans they bought on Etsy. While the basement was built with existing players in mind, they’re hoping to attract some new ones soon. They also plan to add bookshelves to display Dungeons & Dragons books and resources.

I was so excited at The Game Awards 2025 when Invoke Studios announced a new Dungeons & Dragons video game called Warlock! It’s coming out in 2027, which feels like a long wait, but I’m already hyped. It’s amazing to see D&D still going strong with new games and books being released, even after all these years – five decades of support is incredible!
