Dying Light Fans Should Keep an Eye on June 6

Summary

  • Dying Light: The Beast announces gameplay trailer and release date reveal for June 6.
  • The trailer will be shown as part of Summer Game Fest.
  • The Beast was initially developed as a Dying Light 2 DLC, before pivoting to a standalone game.

Fans of the game “Dying Light” have something major to look forward to on June 6th, as the developers at Techland will unveil the official release date for “Dying Light: The Beast,” accompanied by a brand-new gameplay trailer. Originally announced at Gamescom 2024 as an expansion for the 2022 sequel, “Dying Light 2,” “Dying Light: The Beast” was later expanded into a standalone game following a leak in 2023. Despite being shorter than both “Dying Light” and “Dying Light 2,” it promises an exciting new experience for players.

In the year 2022, Techland introduced the highly successful game titled “Dying Light 2“. Unlike its predecessor, this sequel does not focus on Kyle Crane’s narrative. Instead, it introduces Aiden Caldwell, a Pilgrim who journeys between settlements to distribute resources. The game received positive feedback from both fans and critics; however, there was a recurring demand for the original game’s protagonist to make an appearance. Initially, plans were set for the character to appear in downloadable content (DLC) for “Dying Light 2“, but now, the studio is preparing to release his story as a separate standalone game.

Dying Light: The Beast Release Date Reveal Coming June 6

After the official unveiling in August 2024, which validated years-long speculation that Kyle Crane, the renowned protagonist from Dying Light , would make a comeback, fans have been eagerly anticipating more about this game. Although Techland demonstrated more of The Beast at The Game Awards 2024, a complete gameplay reveal and release date will be disclosed on June 6 as part of Summer Game Fest. A sneak peek for the unveiling was shared by Geoff Keighley, host and creator of Summer Game Fest, hinting that new gameplay footage and an official release date will be presented on Friday. As it stands now, the game is slated for a Summer 2025 launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.

As a gamer, I can’t wait for the next Dying Light installment! Though they haven’t revealed the exact cost yet, Techland has shared some good news: if you own the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2, you’ll get the new game at no extra charge. Sadly, the Ultimate Edition was removed from sale on September 30, possibly because of the impending release of Dying Light: The Beast. If you managed to grab the Ultimate Edition earlier, packed with the Bloody Ties DLC, weapon charms, outfits, weapons, XP boosts, and more, you’ll also receive The Beast for free! However, folks who don’t already own the Ultimate Edition will have to pay full price for the game.

Following the unveiling of “Dying Light: The Beast” last year, Techland has outlined an extensive plan for “Dying Light 2”. Although the team is primarily concentrating on delivering “The Beast” later this year, enthusiasts of “Dying Light 2” can anticipate numerous exciting developments. In addition to “The Beast”, Techland has also disclosed a Halloween event, a significant Fall update, and a new Winter Tales event for the game. Moreover, the studio continues to develop additional features for “Dying Light 2”, including new weapon categories, free outfits and equipment, community map integration, enhancements to the prologue, graphical upgrades, and more.
