Dying Light: The Beast – Exclusive Details On World, Story, and Mechanics

As a diehard fan with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Dying Light: The Beast is shaping up to be a thrilling addition to the series. The return of Kyle Crane, voiced once again by the legendary Roger Craig Smith, is just the cherry on top for fans worldwide.

During the Opening Night Live event, Techland unveiled Dying Light: The Beast. Originally, this expansion for Dying Light 2 (2022) grew into a separate, standalone game. Recently, Techland shared additional information about it with the media at Gamescom, and they also released a 20-minute gameplay demonstration.

The End of the World Looks Phenomenal

Initially, Dying Light: The Beast appears to be identical to Dying Light 2, released in 2022, in terms of visuals and feel. However, beneath the surface lies an entirely new storyline, one key aspect being the comeback of Kyle Crane after nearly a decade. This character will once again be brought to life by the renowned Roger Craig Smith, a decision that is sure to delight fans across the globe.

In The Beast game, players will navigate through an 18-hour narrative unfolding in a novel and distinctive setting, divided into various ‘biomes’. These include a forest region, an ancient town sector, and an industrial zone next to a rail yard, as examples. This new world is roughly equivalent in size to one region of Villedor from Dying Light 2, although Techland emphasized that they’ve packed plenty of content into the relatively compact environment.

In Dying Light: The Beast, the narrative unfolds in a sequential manner, eliminating the interactive ‘choice and consequence’ elements seen in Dying Light 2. This is done so players can immerse themselves deeply into the character of Kyle Crane and experience his unique storyline directly.

In The Beast, Techland has significantly updated several gameplay elements such as stealth, weather conditions, and creative combat options in the environment. It still retains its intense, parkour-filled gameplay that players are accustomed to, but now comes with a touch of modernization, enhanced graphics, new types of zombies, and novel weapons and abilities.

1. Watching the gameplay walkthrough really pumped me up. As a 10-year veteran of the series and an avid fan of Dying Light, I’m definitely eager for The Beast to come out, and I can’t wait!
