Techland is releasing a big, free update for Dying Light: The Beast on March 26th called “Restored Land.” This update effectively turns Dying Light: The Beast into a new “Restored Land Edition,” giving all players access to the original game, all previously released downloadable content, and fresh content focused on enhanced survival features.
Initially planned as downloadable content for Dying Light 2, Dying Light: The Beast was released as a standalone game last September on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It received a generally positive response from critics, earning an 81 from top critics and an 80% recommendation rate on OpenCritic. Reviewers particularly enjoyed the game’s improved parkour and intense zombie combat, though some found the missions to be repetitive and the story inconsistent.
Dying Light: The Beast Gets Free Restored Land Edition on March 26
A new edition of Dying Light: The Beast, called the Restored Land Edition, is coming out on Thursday, March 26th, as revealed in a video on IGN’s YouTube channel. The update will be available for free to all current owners of the game. It includes many new features and improvements, but the biggest draw is likely the new ‘Restored Land’ content.

The new Restored Land mode offers a challenging, survival-focused experience in Dying Light. Unlike the standard game, zombies you defeat won’t come back, and clearing out infected areas will actually restore them to how they were before the outbreak, bringing people back to the zone. However, this comes at a cost: once you use up supplies, they won’t reappear. Resources are much harder to find than in the main game, with stores having less stock and charging more. Basic survival elements, like needing to eat, are also more demanding, forcing you to constantly search for food and other essentials. Once you’ve completed optional activities like Convoys, Dark Zones, and Heists, you won’t be able to replay them in this mode.
So, Dying Light is getting a new mode, and it’s pretty intense! They’re adding something called ‘One Life’ – if you die, your whole save file is wiped! It’s super risky, but if you manage to beat the game with it on, you get some exclusive rewards. Plus, on March 26th, they’re dropping ‘Roadkill Rallies,’ which are basically races where you try to run over as many zombies as possible – sounds awesome! And the free ‘Restored Land’ update is bringing a bunch of cool stuff too, like new ways to finish off zombies, achievements to unlock, more random encounters, and just general improvements to the game.

Since launching in September 2025, Dying Light: The Beast has been consistently updated, just like previous games in the series. Beyond performance improvements and weekly challenges with special rewards, the game has received several significant content additions. Update 1.3 introduced new enemy actions, weapon-based finishing moves, and a collaboration with PUBG Mobile. Update 1.4 added a New Game Plus mode, Legend Levels, and enhanced ray tracing. Most recently, on December 17th, a new update brought even more finishing moves and a challenging Nightmare difficulty, complete with unique gameplay features, exclusive rewards, and a brand new enemy.
