In Dying Light: The Beast, players can discover many secrets and purchase items from various merchants. However, these tools, gadgets, and weapons can be quite costly, quickly depleting your hard-earned money. It’s frustrating to spend hours collecting Old World Money only to find Kyle Crane with an empty wallet.
This guide will help you quickly earn a lot of Old World Money in *Dying Light: The Beast* so you can buy all the gear, blueprints, crafting materials, and ammo you need to survive.
How Farm Money in Dying Light: The Beast
Earning money, often called ‘Old World Money,’ in Dying Light: The Beast can be challenging. While you can get cash from defeated infected enemies and by finding ‘Valuables’ like medicine and jewelry, it’s not always consistent. To reliably make a lot of money, you need to know the best ways to find these items and sell them to merchants in the settlements.
Let’s begin by looking at the most profitable items players can sell to merchants, broken down by how much money they earn.
- Valuables (Wine, Old World Vodka, Whiskey, Smartphones, Parfume, Jewels, Asporfin, Morphine, Antibiotics).
- Guns (Rifles, Pistols, SMGs, Shotguns).
- Rare resources (only in extreme cases where players need money fast, and there’s nothing else to sell).
Merchants pay more for higher-quality items – the better the item (ranging from common to legendary), the more money you’ll receive. Therefore, focusing on collecting Rare, Epic, and Legendary items is the best way to earn a lot of money. Now, let’s explore the first, and safest, method for earning Old World Money.
Fast Money And Rare Valuables Farming
Two good places to collect Rare Valuables are in the early areas of the Village, near Town Hall. One particularly useful spot is close to the Library Tower Safe Spot. If the Dark Zones are empty, you can reset them by sleeping in a bed for a day, then quickly collecting all the valuables on the first floor of the Library Square apartment – it’s a relatively easy area to clear out.
To quickly collect valuable items, return to the Safe Spot to reset and repeat this route. It’s a simple way to earn extra money, especially as you progress through the game. The higher your level, the better quality items you’ll find.
Money & Exp Farming (Hardcore Method)
For a more challenging approach to resource gathering, try using ‘Beast Mode’ to defeat powerful enemies like Volatiles. They often drop valuable items, particularly MRE Rations and Morphine, making this a worthwhile, though difficult, farming strategy.
To use this technique, first unlock the Town Hall – one of the initial areas in the game – and wait for nighttime. Leave through the main exit, and go to the center of the plaza. Fight zombies until your Beast meter is almost full. Then, turn on your flashlight to attract nearby Volatiles. Avoid their attacks and run towards the UV light near the Town Hall entrance. Once there, activate Beast Mode by attacking or dodging enemies, and quickly eliminate as many Volatiles as you can until Beast Mode runs out. Finally, run back under the UV light to stop any Volatiles from chasing you.
After defeating the enemies, gather the items they drop. Then, go to the Town Hall and rest until morning to recharge your energy. Repeat this process of resting until morning and then again until night, building up a collection of valuables in Kyle’s inventory. Finally, sell those valuables to the merchant at the Town Hall for Old World Money.
