As a huge Dying Light fan, I was really excited to hear about the new 1.5 update, ‘The Beast’! Techland has promised it’s going to seriously ramp up the challenge, which sounds amazing if you’re like me and love a tough game. The big thing with this update is something called the Nightmare Experience – it’s a brand new way to measure how difficult the game is, so get ready for a real test of your skills in this zombie-filled world!
Nightmare Experience ramps up the challenge with tougher, more intelligent enemies – both human and infected – and makes even daytime feel dangerous. Plus, this update brings a whole host of other improvements and changes.
Introducing the Alpha Volatile
Techland has adjusted how difficulty is determined in the latest update (patch 1.5) for Dying Light: The Beast, aiming to create a more intense and realistic post-apocalyptic atmosphere. This change specifically impacts the Nightmare Experience mode.
Okay, so I’ve been playing Dying Light: The Beast, and let me tell you, the new ‘Nightmare Experience’ difficulty is intense! It’s definitely not for beginners. The enemies – both humans and the infected – are way tougher and smarter. They react to everything you do, and it feels like they can sense you coming. Plus, they’re super aggressive! It’s also harder to find supplies, so you really have to be careful with what you’ve got. And get this – Volatiles can now show up in the Dark Zones during the day! It’s a seriously challenging experience, but if you’re a seasoned player looking for a real survival test, you’ll love it.
The update features a brand-new, incredibly dangerous enemy called ‘Alpha Volatile’ that will relentlessly pursue you across the entire map.
This update includes a brand-new, incredibly dangerous enemy called the Alpha Volatile. It’s the strongest and smartest infected creature in Castor Woods, and in the entire Dying Light series. This Volatile can track players by scent, isn’t affected by flashlight UV light, and will relentlessly pursue them across the map until they reach safety or defeat it. Players will need to be careful and plan their moves strategically when facing it at night.
To deepen the experience in Castor Woods, Techland has introduced new survival elements to Dying Light: The Beast. These additions make food and drinks significantly more important for players.
The Nightmare Experience introduces fresh challenges to help you survive. A new Hunger System impacts your stamina, how quickly you heal, and how effective you are in combat – the longer you go without eating, the worse the effects become. Also, your flashlight’s battery doesn’t last forever. It will gradually dim and flicker as power runs out, so you’ll need to find or craft new batteries to keep it working.
There’s a good reason to push yourself! Techland says that if you conquer the game’s hardest challenges, you’ll earn special rewards like exclusive items, charms, a one-of-a-kind outfit, and a new vehicle skin.
The Call of the Beast challenge is ongoing, with the next event starting on December 18th. Keep completing the challenges to earn the special reward at the very end!
Techland recently announced that development of Dying Light 2: Stay Human is moving forward again, and players can expect significant updates to the game in the near future.
