Dynasty Warriors 3 Remaster Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

The release of Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered has been postponed. This action-packed game, based on the historical Three Kingdoms period, is a long-running and popular series for Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, appearing on many different gaming systems. While there have been ten main Dynasty Warriors games, often with expanded Empires and Xtreme Legends versions, this new release is a remastered version of an older fan favorite.

Released in late 2001, Dynasty Warriors 3 introduced several new features to the series, including multiplayer and an expanded version called Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends. To mark the franchise’s 25th anniversary, Koei Tecmo announced in September 2025 that a fully remastered version of Dynasty Warriors 3 was in development, originally planned for a March 2026 release. However, fans anticipating the remaster may now face a longer wait.

Dynasty Warriors 3 Remaster Hit With Major Delay

Koei Tecmo announced on Monday that Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered will be delayed past its original March release date. The company stated they need more time to polish the game and improve its quality, but didn’t give a new date for when it will launch. They also haven’t shown much gameplay footage, only releasing a short trailer with the announcement, which suggests there’s still a lot of work to be done.

Okay, so Koei Tecmo’s been pretty quiet about the Dynasty Warriors 3 remaster, but we’re starting to get some info! It’s awesome to hear they’re rebuilding it in Unreal Engine 5 – that’s a first for them in a while, as they usually use their own Katana Engine. They’ve also said this Complete Edition Remastered will include everything from Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends, which means we’re getting those extra Musou modes for characters who weren’t originally tied to a main story, plus new gear and even harder difficulties. And the best part? They’re not just making it look prettier. They’ve said they’ve ‘evolved’ the combat system, so it sounds like they’re really changing things up under the hood. I’m super excited to see how this turns out!

Dynasty Warriors Reinvented Itself With Its Most Recent Game

The classic Dynasty Warriors experience is returning with Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, after the most recent installment made some big changes to the formula. Dynasty Warriors: Origins, released in 2025, was the first new game in the series for over five years and focused more on storytelling with a new, alternate timeline. Players create and control their own character, Ziluan, as they fight in famous battles across ancient China. Koei Tecmo recently added to Dynasty Warriors: Origins with the ‘Visions of Four Heroes’ DLC, which introduces entirely new storylines.

Fans of the Dynasty Warriors series have plenty to be excited about, with both classic titles and new games on the way. Koei Tecmo is currently working on Origins and its downloadable content, but this game only covers the first part of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, hinting at a possible sequel to finish the story. Recently, Dynasty Warriors: Origins also launched on the new Switch 2 console on January 22nd. The positive reception of Origins and the upcoming remaster of Dynasty Warriors 3 suggest a bright future for this popular action series.
