Summary
- A new update for Dynasty Warriors: Origins adds the Gold Serpent Spear for the Year of the Snake celebration.
- Bug fixes include corrected officer highlighting and an addressed Azure Dragon Bellow Battle Art strength issue.
Koei Tecmo has rolled out an update for the game Dynasty Warriors: Origins across various platforms, fixing certain issues and also introducing and tweaking specific features. This is the third significant patch the game has received post-launch. Among the new additions in version 1.003 is a fresh weapon within Dynasty Warriors: Origins, commemorating the Lunar New Year, which represents the Year of the Snake.
The “Dynasty Warriors” series is one of the most iconic hack ‘n slash games in the industry, and it has influenced the creation of an entire game genre called musou. Developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo, this series boasts over ten titles that include both main entries and spin-offs. The latest addition to the series, “Dynasty Warriors: Origins,” was created with the intention of attracting new players, and it seems successful as it shattered sales records, rejuvenating a series based on the Chinese novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
In this latest update for “Dynasty Warriors: Origins”, several issues have been resolved and some exciting new elements have been introduced. Notably, the Gold Serpent Spear has been added, marking the Year of the Snake, and will be awarded to players once they acquire their initial Lance-type weapon. Players will find a golden spear in a letter at their base. Interestingly, although it’s called a spear, it is also classified as a Lance. Additional features include adjustable Rumor Settings that can decrease or completely eliminate the occurrence of rumors on the map, and a frame skip option within the graphics menu for smoother gameplay.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the recent update tackled several issues I’ve encountered. For instance, it resolved an annoyance where officers continued to be highlighted even when the disabling option was selected. Another issue addressed involved the Incense of Vitality item not effectively healing nearby allies. Lastly, the power boost for the Azure Dragon Bellow, one of my favorite Battle Arts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, was previously failing to escalate alongside its upgrades. While other minor glitches were mentioned but not detailed in the patch notes, I’m hopeful they will be addressed soon. Moreover, controller buttons have been re-labeled based on the standard layout seen on the PS5 DualSense, which should enhance my gaming experience!
Prior to the launch of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo revealed that Dynasty Warriors 10 had been scrapped. They explained their decision by wanting to produce a game that aligns better with the technology of modern consoles. This gave Omega Force the opportunity to design a game with a traveling system and a heightened emphasis on the narrative of the Three Kingdoms era, although it meant players could only control one character instead of the diverse cast Dynasty Warriors is recognized for.
The plan proved effective, propelling “Dynasty Warriors: Origins” to be the fastest-selling game within its series. Given this triumph, future installments might adapt, potentially moving away from the usual vast battlefields swarming with countless adversaries towards the style exhibited in “Origins”. The most recent release has introduced more RPG aspects, such as an expansive overworld and a heightened emphasis on storytelling. In “Dynasty Warriors: Origins”, multiple endings can be unlocked based on how players manage certain objectives during combat.
