In “Dynasty Warriors: Origins,” you’ll predominantly assume the role of The Wanderer as he embarks on a journey to establish tranquility throughout the realm. This adventure promises numerous decisions to be made in the main narrative, and regardless of your choices, you’ll frequently have allies joining you in combat.
Accompaniments will remain by your side throughout the battlefield and trail you, however, you can occasionally command them. These companions are exceptionally potent, and controlling them is often more efficient than using the Wanderer with his enhancements. Here’s a simple guide on how to alternate characters:
1. Press ‘Tab’ on your keyboard to open the character selection menu.
2. Navigate through the list of available companions using the arrow keys or mouse.
3. Once you have selected a companion, press ‘Enter’ or click on them to switch characters.
How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
In a fight situation, where you have a companion by your side, you will only be able to select that specific companion as your ally. Prior to the start of the battle, during the war council, the last option on the menu will represent your companion, whom you can choose to fight alongside or opt to go solo if preferred. However, it’s important to note that once the battle commences, you won’t be able to switch companions; your chosen companion will be visible on the bottom right of the screen, with their health bar appearing just above yours.
Directly under their health gauge is where you’ll find a blue meter, similar to your Musou gauge. This meter accumulates as you engage in combat, earning you additional energy at a faster rate when fighting.
- Parrying attacks
- Perfect dodging
- Assaulting Officers
- Using Weapon Arts
Just about any action in combat increases this bar in some way, though much slower.
When the entire blue progress bar for your teammate gets filled up, the “Switch Character” option will pop up right next to it. Just press and hold this button for a moment to change characters. You can do this with the View Button on Xbox, ‘C’ key on PC, or the Touchpad on PlayStation.
Playing As Other Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
As a gamer, during intense battles, it’s best not to swap characters mid-fight, as companions can be incredibly powerful, but only for about a minute once you take control of them. A blue bar will fill up to make the switch, and as it does, it’ll gradually empty, showing how much time is left. When you switch, your new character will come in ready with full Bravery and an arsenal of combat arts at their disposal, all potent moves to test out.
When you change characters, they’ll join the battle with a powerful assault, so target an opponent during the swap. Additionally, your ally will possess their own Musou gauge and health meter, both of which are already charged, allowing them to unleash their unique special attack to annihilate your foes.
