In The Sims 4 game, file corruption issues continue to cause trouble for players, preventing them from accessing their long-built worlds. Electronic Arts (EA), the publisher, assures fans that they are actively working on resolving these issues and permanently eliminating them. It appears that most of these issues stem from For Rent, an expansion pack released over a year and a half ago, but a recent update seems to have introduced new problems as well.
The expansion pack titled “For Rent” for the game “The Sims 4” was initially launched in December 2023. This expansion focuses on the concept of rental properties, enabling players to establish and manage apartments, duplexes, and townhouses. For those seeking a more immersive experience, it offers a touch of realism, allowing them to enjoy or struggle with communal living aspects such as shared meals (like potluck dinners) and potential health issues from mold exposure.
The Sims 4 Is Still Working on For Rent’s Save File Corruption Issues
According to a recent update by EA, the development team has already resolved 29 out of the initially identified issues in For Rent. However, there are still 37 other problems that require attention. Among these, 26 are currently being investigated, while the developers are seeking additional information from the gaming community regarding the remaining 11 issues.
In a previous report issued in February, EA highlighted save file corruption as a significant concern in For Rent. Players have reported experiencing issues such as entire lots vanishing when multiple rental units are present in a world, and an endless white screen upon loading the game on PlayStation consoles. While Maxis has released a fix for the first issue, they are currently waiting for player feedback to ensure it is fully resolved. Regarding the second problem, they are still awaiting more responses from the community before addressing it.

More recently, some players have reported additional save file problems that have popped up following the release of The Sims 4‘s August 19 update. Known issues related to this bug are centered around lots refusing to load, or specific items being missing or unusable after lots have loaded. Based on the report from EA, many of these complaints have been centered around lots that were downloaded from the Gallery. This problem is often accompanied by a crash or a never-ending loading or all-white screen, and sometimes a Load Error 800/801 message, though the developers have been unable to replicate this error code.

EA intends to delve deeper into these matters and share updates, with the recent update suggesting that the fresh batch of glitches might be related to the ‘For Rent’ feature, though no definitive conclusions have been drawn. Players are also advised to exercise caution when utilizing mods and custom content in The Sims 4, as these elements may disrupt gameplay performance. Due to the developers’ inability to reproduce all reported problems, they are seeking further input from the community through a designated forum page where players can submit save file issues for their attention.
