Summary
- EA Play is removing 2 games in March 2025, including Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Frostpunk.
- Operation Flashpoint is being removed on March 14.
- Frostpunk is being removed on March 28.
In March 2025, EA’s subscription service, EA Play, is taking out two games from its collection. Known as Electronic Arts’ platform for digital distribution, EA Play can be accessed on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox (included in an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership). This service offers subscribers a vast library of games developed by the company, along with frequent trials of their latest game releases.
Unlike some other subscription services, the EA Play library tends to keep games available for a longer period of time. While certain titles may eventually disappear due to expiring licenses or server shutdowns, many games will stay on EA Play permanently. However, it’s important to note that the next two games set to leave the service will be removed in March 2025, so subscribers should take advantage of playing them before they’re gone.
The tactical shooter game, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, which was created and distributed by Codemasters (acquired by EA in 2021), will no longer be available on EA Play as of March 14. Similarly, the city-building survival game, Frostpunk, published by 11 Bit Studios, will depart from EA Play on March 28. The reasons for removing these games from EA Play have not been disclosed.
EA Play Games Leaving Soon
- Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising – March 14
- Frostpunk – March 28
In March, only two games – “Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising” and “Frostpunk” – are being taken off EA Play. However, it’s worth noting that EA is also ceasing operations for some other games. Specifically, on March 13th, “EA Sports UFC Mobile 2” and “NCAA Football 14” will be shutting down. Unfortunately, neither of these games are accessible through EA Play at the moment. Despite this, it’s still disappointing that they will no longer be available.
On June 30th, the online multiplayer servers for Madden NFL 21 will permanently cease operation. Electronic Arts (EA) usually takes games off their list, The Playlist, before server shutdowns, so players won’t be able to rejoin Madden NFL 21 before its closure on that date.
For frequent players of EA’s games, it might be beneficial to look into an EA Play subscription. While some games may get rotated out occasionally, it can still be a cost-effective choice for those who frequently play the company’s annual sports games. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to wait around six months or so to gain access.
