EA Sports FC 25: How to Take Set Pieces

As a seasoned veteran of EA Sports FC 25, I can confidently say that set pieces have been the bane of my existence for far too long. Time and time again, I’ve found myself watching in despair as my beautifully executed corners or free kicks sailed over the crossbar or landed harmlessly in the goalkeeper’s arms. But no more!

In EA Sports FC 25, game-changing moments often come from well-executed set pieces that can shift the momentum of a heated match. However, it’s not always easy for players like me to convert these opportunities into goals because the mechanics behind each set piece can be quite intricate and bewildering at times.

In FC 25, the best opportunity for a player to consistently score is through set pieces. Regrettably, many players miss out on these significant chances, either by shooting beyond the crossbar or misplacing the ball due to lack of control. This guide aims to equip you with all the necessary skills to execute these set pieces effectively, transforming each opportunity into a game-changing moment.

How to Score from Corners in FC 25

A huge misconception about corners is that you only need to cross the ball inside the box and pray that your central player scores a header. This is a common mistake that many beginner players make when they first start the game.

By mastering the correct methods and understanding how to execute a corner kick effectively, any player can turn these opportunities into scores. Choosing the optimal teammates to aim for is crucial when positioning yourself for successful corner set-ups.

Navigate to your team management, then use LB/L2 keys to move to the Assignments section. Scroll down to Corner Kick Instruction Target Player, choose the player with the best Jumping and Heading abilities. This selected player will be positioned in the center of the box, ready to receive the ball from your corner taker.

After choosing your intended goal scorer, let’s discuss how to transform every corner kick into a goal. If you’re using a right-footed player for the right corner or a left-footed player for the left corner who will bend the ball away from the penalty area, simply adjust your aim slightly beyond the goalkeeper and subtly manipulate the curve with the right joystick. Once positioned correctly, send the ball into the box with three levels of power, and your in-box target player will be poised to head it past the post.

To get the best results when positioning a right-footed player at the left corner or a left-footed player at the right corner, aim for a spot just outside the penalty box on the edge. After setting up, strike the ball with precisely three power bars to prepare for a header. If your corner taker has an exceptional curve rating, target the ball towards the outer areas so it reaches your teammate effectively.

How to Score Free Kicks in FC 25

To score from free kicks, it’s essential to direct your shots toward the uppermost part of the goalpost and control the curve appropriately. It’s strongly advised to utilize a player with a Dead Ball or Dead Ball+ playstyle, as they excel as free-kick experts in the game.

As a gamer, when I’ve got a left-footed player taking a free kick from the left, I’ll adjust my right stick to execute an “Inside Foot Curler” with a hefty three-bar boost. I aim high, over the farthest defender on the left, and curve it towards the far-left corner of the penalty box. Conversely, when I’ve got a right-footed player on the left, I aim high again, this time targeting the furthest defender’s curves, and curve the ball toward the rightmost corner of the penalty box. A solid three-bar power shot finishes it off.

If you’re taking a free kick from the side of the goalpost, the technique is consistent regardless of whether you’re right-footed or left-footed. Right-footed players should aim over the right player and curve the ball towards the right-hand corner of the penalty box, while left-footers should aim over the left player and curve it towards the left-hand corner. For both types of players, ensure that each shot is strong enough to reach the post by taking it at three power bars.

How to Score Penalties in FC 25

To successfully convert penalties, it’s crucial to master the timing and accuracy of your shots. Strive for an optimal moment by positioning the green target as close to the ball as possible. Be aware that a larger distance between the circle and the ball reduces your chances of scoring. A perfectly timed shot, if correctly positioned, is almost guaranteed to find its mark.

When taking your shots, it’s best to target any of the four corners of the goal, as these areas are beyond the goalkeeper’s technical reach. By hitting these spots with perfect timing, your penalty kicks will likely find their way into the net as goals.
