On May 1 at 1 PM ET, EA Vancouver is set to launch an exciting new update for the sports game, EA Sports UFC 5. This update will introduce a fresh fighter into the game and also work on enhancing gameplay mechanics and correcting any existing bugs. Despite EA Sports UFC 5 being close to its second anniversary, EA Vancouver continues to regularly release engaging content updates and keep the game’s roster in sync with the official UFC rankings.
Fans of the EA Sports UFC series are anxiously looking forward to updates about its next version, as new games in the series typically come out every couple of years. Although Electronic Arts (EA) hasn’t made any official announcements yet, a rumor from October 2024 hints that EA Sports UFC 6 is currently being developed behind the scenes. According to insider Mike Straw from Insider Gaming, production on the next installment of the EA Sports UFC series is in full swing and aims for a 2025 release. However, Straw suggests there’s a possibility that EA Sports UFC 6 may not be launched until 2026 instead.
Although there are whispers that EA might be developing UFC 6, it doesn’t hinder the studio from frequently updating EA Sports UFC 5. The most recent update, slated for release today at 1 PM ET, introduces Welterweight fighter Bryan Battle to the game. Battle joined the UFC in 2021 and boasts a record of 7 wins, 1 loss, and 1 no-contest within the promotion. At present, Battle doesn’t have a scheduled fight and last fought against Randy Brown at UFC 310 in December 2024, emerging victorious with a split decision.
Fans can look forward to discovering new character personas in EA Sports UFC 5 starting from May 6th, although EA Vancouver hasn’t specified which fighters will be receiving these updates yet. However, they did mention that there would be additional customization rewards with the upcoming update. The gameplay has also undergone several modifications, such as fixing an issue concerning the crucifix position during grappling and resolving a bug that caused fighters to become stuck in the tower feet on hips stance.
In the past month, EA Sports UFC 5 has experienced a significant resurgence following its debut on PlayStation Plus. It was added to the service in March and saw an impressive increase in player numbers by approximately 127.3%. This surge in players makes EA Sports UFC 5 the second most popular game to be added to PlayStation Plus in 2025, trailing only God of War Ragnarok which joined PS Plus in January 2025.
