EA’s CEO Could Be The Next Top Boss at Disney

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the prospect of Andrew Wilson, the current CEO of Electronic Arts, moving to Disney and potentially taking over from Bob Iger is quite intriguing. With his extensive background at EA spanning almost a quarter of a century, he’s certainly no stranger to the world of gaming.

A recent report suggests that there’s talk about Electronic Arts’ CEO, Andrew Wilson, potentially taking over as CEO at Disney, possibly succeeding Bob Iger who has held the position since 2005. If all goes as planned, Iger’s tenure will end in 2026, and Disney is on the hunt for a fitting successor; with Wilson being a strong contender.

From EA To Disney

According to a Wall Street Journal report, it’s being speculated that the current leader at Electronic Arts could potentially take over as Disney’s CEO. Multiple candidates are said to be under consideration for this role.

  • Andrew Wilson, CEO at EA
  • Jimmy Pitaro, ESPN Chairman
  • Dana Walden and Alan Bergman, Disney Entertainment co-chairs
  • Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences Chairman

As an ardent admirer, I’ve been tracking Andrew Wilson’s meteoric rise within Electronic Arts for close to a quarter-century now, having entered their fold back in the year 2000. Since then, he’s held the esteemed position of CEO since 2013, steering the ship through both its most triumphant peaks and challenging valleys.

Over the past few years, Disney has been aggressively expanding its presence in the video game industry. Lately, they invested a substantial $1.5 billion into Epic Games, and previously expressed their intention to release a brand-new Star Wars game approximately every half year.

In 2023, it was recommended that Bob Iger should significantly increase investment in gaming and purchase a prominent publisher or developer studio, with Electronic Arts being a key contender in these discussions. For some time, Disney aimed to establish itself as a major player in the gaming industry, but Iger remained reluctant to take on this goal.

With Andrew Wilson at the helm, could we see Disney become an indomitable gaming powerhouse?
