This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
In the world of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda has created incredibly powerful figures from a bygone era who stand above the rest. These characters are truly fearsome, and their strength is so legendary that their names are still remembered today. Characters like Gol D. Roger are considered unbelievably strong. Even those whose stories were deliberately erased from history, such as Rocks D. Xebec, were immensely powerful and terrified the World Government.
Whitebeard was a legendary pirate who ruled the seas in One Piece until recently. Characters like him are incredibly powerful and have proven it many times. But a new character, Loki, the Accursed Prince of Elbaf, has completely changed the show’s power levels, surpassing everyone before him.
Roger, Whitebeard, Rocks, And Garp Were The Strongest Of The Old Era
- Roger Was The Pirate King
- Garp and Whitebeard Were His Rivals
Prior to the Elbaf arc in One Piece, the most powerful pirates of a previous era were still at their peak. Gol D. Roger was considered the strongest, with Whitebeard as his only match. The Rocks Pirates, though shrouded in mystery, were also at a similar level to Roger and Whitebeard in their prime. On the side of the Marines, Garp was a formidable force, known to be Roger’s equal in strength.
These powerful figures, including Scopper Gaban and Silvers Rayleigh, were considered the strongest pirates in the world of One Piece. Even after recent events on Elbaf, their legendary status remains unchanged. However, a new incredibly powerful pirate has emerged: Loki, known as the Accursed Prince of Elbaf, who some believe may even surpass them in strength.
From the moment Loki was born, it was clear he wasn’t like everyone else. Some believed his unusual eyes were a curse, while others saw them as a sign of a unique destiny. He inherited the powerful blood of the Ancient Giants, setting him apart like Harald. Loki’s strong ambition further fueled his growing power. However, it was fourteen years ago, with the death of Harald, that Loki truly became incredibly powerful. Their confrontation on that day fundamentally changed how power works within the story of One Piece.
Loki Has Surpassed All The Old Monsters Of The One Piece World
- Loki Has Ragnir At His Side
- He Ate the Legendary Devil Fruit Of Elbaf 14 Years Ago
Before the events at Elbaf, it would have been unthinkable that Loki could surpass the strongest characters in the One Piece universe. But after seeing his fight with King Harald in chapter 1170, it’s hard to deny he’s reached that level. Loki defeated Harald in an amazing battle, delivering the final blow. To understand how impressive this is, it’s important to remember just how powerful Harald was – he was revealed to be as strong as Rocks D. Xebec, one of the most formidable pirates in history.
The Five Elders describe King Harald as possessing immense and terrifying power. They believe he has become immortal, a force so overwhelming he’s surpassed the level of a mere monster and is now a devastating weapon.
Characters with power comparable to Rocks are considered among the strongest in the One Piece world. However, Harald surpassed even that level. He received the Deep Sea Covenant from Imu, which gave him incredible strength and made him immortal.
Harald admitted that receiving the Covenant from Imu granted him incredible power, making him significantly stronger than he used to be. This was the Harald who battled Loki, meaning he was even more powerful than Rocks. Despite this, he was easily defeated in the current fight.
Once Loki gained the power of Ragnir and a powerful Devil Fruit from Elbaf, he became incredibly strong – strong enough to defeat even Harald. This puts him at a level comparable to the Pirate King and Whitebeard, and possibly even beyond them, which might seem unbelievable.
With Ragnir And A Legendary Devil Fruit, Loki Is Too Overpowered
Image by Viz Media At this stage in the story, the extent of Loki’s power is still a mystery. His fight with Harald was too short to fully demonstrate what he’s capable of, but we can get a good idea by looking at his abilities. Even on his own, Loki is incredibly strong – a top-tier fighter, without question. He could imbue his hammer with powerful Conqueror’s Haki, but he wasn’t yet as strong as characters like Shanks or Scopper Gaban.
Look, everything I’ve been doing, all of it, is because I desperately want to break Elbaf free from this endless fighting! I never meant for anyone to be forced into joining the Navy – I want people to choose that life, not be dragged into it. Honestly, I just want to serve my people properly. Guards, please, quickly tie me up and get Elder Jarul and Loki here right away!
Loki became significantly stronger thanks to Ragnir. Ragnir proved to be a powerful opponent, capable of fighting Loki to a standstill, putting it on par with the strongest characters in the One Piece world, like the Admirals or even the Yonko. Loki’s power increased even further when he consumed a legendary Devil Fruit, transforming him into the formidable being he is now.
Loki quickly defeated King Harald, proving just how dangerous he is. Some believe he’s become as powerful as legends like Roger, Garp, and Whitebeard, and might even be stronger now.
Only Shanks Surpasses Loki In Power In One Piece
Image by Toei Animation Loki is incredibly powerful, potentially even surpassing legends like Roger, Whitebeard, and Harald. However, Shanks remains the strongest pirate of them all. Although no one could defeat Loki after Harald’s death, Shanks ultimately managed to subdue him in battle.
I remember this happening about six years ago within the world of One Piece. After what Shanks did, he officially became one of the Yonko – the four most powerful pirates. It really struck me then that he’d moved beyond even legends like Roger, Whitebeard, and Rocks. In fact, it seemed clear he was the strongest pirate around, second only to Joy Boy.
Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, One Piece, follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, as they search for the legendary treasure, the One Piece. The story is currently in its final arc. A new chapter, number 1170, will be released in this week’s Weekly Shonen Jump. It officially comes out on January 4, 2026. In Japan, it will be available at midnight on Monday, which is 11:00 AM Eastern Time and 8:00 AM Pacific Time. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app, which helps support the creator.
