As a seasoned adventurer with countless hours spent traversing the lands of Elden Ring, I have come across many wondrous sights and formidable foes. But none have left me as intrigued and exhilarated as the transformations one can attain in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
As an avid fan of Elden Ring, I’m thrilled about the latest addition to the game through the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. In this expansion, I get the opportunity to experiment with a new mechanic that lets my Tarnished character undergo a transformation, enhancing particular stats. To activate this metamorphosis, all I need to do is locate any one of the three available tools for transformation. One of these valuable items is even rewarded as part of an intriguing NPC quest.
Instead of donning armor to alter your form, transformation can only be achieved by employing one of these tools, with no armor needed. After undergoing transformation, the Tarnished will maintain their new state until death. Here’s where you can find all three transformations in Elden Ring’s DLC:
Lamenter’s Form
Transform Into A Menacing Lamenter With Lamenter’s Mask
In the northwest part of Charo’s Concealed Burial Ground, the boss of Lamenter’s Gaol lets go of a treasure. To get there, you first need to make your way through the Dragon’s Pit and defeat the Ancient Dragon Man. Once you’ve accomplished that, search for the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion, which is situated south of Jagged Peak. After reaching the Grand Altar, proceed westward to unearth Charo’s Hidden Grave.
Wearing the Lamenter’s Mask converts the Tarnished into a portentous figure. In this state, donning the mask once more causes the Tarnished’s head to inflate significantly, thereby harming nearby enemies.
While in the Lamenter’s form, you gain the following buffs:
Buff/Debuff Type | Value |
---|---|
Physical Damage Negation | +4 |
Magic Damage Negation | +5 |
Fire Damage Negation | +14.5 |
Lightning Damage Negation | -4.5 |
Holy Damage Negation | +20 |
Arcane | +8 |
Ancient Dragon Form
Transform Into Ancient Dragon Form, Boosting Dragon Communion Incantations
Two other dragon transformations exist, each showcasing Ancient Dragon forms but with distinct benefits. To obtain one of these Ancient Dragon forms, you must solve the Dragon Domain painting enigma hidden in Shadow Keep’s clandestine underworld. After locating this elusive painting, venture up Jagged Peak to encounter a spectral figure. This ethereal being disappears upon your approach, but leaves behind the coveted Rock Heart as a reward.
As a gamer, I can tell you that the Rock Heart is similar to the Lamenter’s Mask in that it’s an item I can use over and over again. When I hold this gem, I undergo a remarkable transformation – from Tarnished into a powerful Ancient Dragon. And let me tell you, when I manage to transform once more while already being an Ancient Dragon, my Dragon Communion spells get a significant boost! For a full minute, their potency increases by a solid 20%. It’s like having an extra burst of dragon fire at my disposal!
The Rock Heart form grants the following buffs to the Tarnished:
Buff Type | Value |
---|---|
Physical Damage Negation | +8 |
Magic Damage Negation | +10 |
Fire Damage Negation | +10 |
Lightning Damage Negation | +10 |
Holy Damage Negation | +10 |
Priestess Form
Transform Into Ancient Dragon Priestess Florissax, Boosting Dragon Cult Incantations
In “Shadow of the Erdtree,” the third change you can gain access to is an alternative version of the Ancient Dragon form. You can secure this transformation by advancing through the questline of the Dragon Priestess Florisaxx and eventually defeating Bayle the Dread on Jagged Peak.
Near the major dragon worship site, known as the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion, is where you’ll encounter the ancient priestess, Florissax. Reach it by first overcoming the challenges in the Dragon’s Pit and then riding south from the Dragons Pit Terminus Site of Grace. Keep in mind that Florissax is a venerable dragon herself, devoted to her master. Engage in conversation with the priestess, exhausting all her dialogues before facing Bayle the Dread.
After vanquishing Bayle the Dread near the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion, I noticed that the Priestess had vacated the premises. All that remained were the Priestess’s Heart and her hammer.
With the Priestess Heart, you can transform into Priestess Florisaxx. After assuming this form, utilizing the heart once more while already transformed amplifies all Dragon Cult spells by twenty percent for a duration of sixty seconds.
Additionally, you also gain the following buffs while in the Priestess form:
Buff Type | Value |
---|---|
Physical Damage Negation | +5.6 |
Magic Damage Negation | +7 |
Fire Damage Negation | +7 |
Lightning Damage Negation | +7 |
Holy Damage Negation | +7 |
