Elden Ring: Best Places To Farm Runes In Caelid

Elden Ring: Best Places To Farm Runes In Caelid

As a seasoned Elden Ring explorer with countless hours under my belt (and many more yet to come), I must say that these farming spots are absolute gold for those rune-thirsty adventurers out there. Let’s dive into some of the best ones, shall we?

In the game Elden Ring, characters referred to as Tarnished are cautioned, for they risk their lives merely by existing within the realm of Australia, also known as Caelid. However, savvy players can find ways to outwit this lethal environment and amass a fortune in Runes by strategically harvesting at designated spots in Caelid.

In the game Elden Ring, some farming locations come with specific prerequisites, but these are not overly demanding to obtain. To make use of them effectively, you’ll need a weapon that inflicts Bleed, a Mimic’s Veil, and naturally, Torrent as your steed. Additionally, be prepared for some risky exploration, such as traversing dangerous underground passages to find portals or shortcuts.

To advance in the game, it’s crucial to know how to gather Runes effectively, as they are the only method for leveling up. This can be done without engaging in difficult boss battles or confronting powerful, high-level adversaries. Just like other regions, certain locations in Caelid offer easy farming of Runes with minimal risk. In some cases, you won’t even need to actively participate, as enemies may kill each other, and the Runes will automatically transfer to your inventory.

Quick List Of Farming Locations

Elden Ring: Best Places To Farm Runes In Caelid

  • Forsaken & Caelem Ruins
  • Narrow Trench Near Deep Siofra Well
  • Sellia, Town Of Sorcery

As a seasoned traveler of Elden Ring’s realm, I can confidently say that Caelid is one of the most challenging locations to gather Runes efficiently and safely. Having traversed through numerous playthroughs, I can attest to its unpredictability. It’s not as straightforward as simply strolling up to a place, unless you’re on NG+ or already well-versed in Caelid’s treacherous landscape.

8 Forsaken & Caelem Ruins

Grants 150 Runes Per Each Try

In Caelid, players can easily find a farming spot without traveling far. Upon entering this area, they’ll encounter not one but two ruins – Forsaken Ruin and Caelem Ruin. These places are teeming with undead enemies who move slowly, making them harmless threats for the players.

In certain situations, you can find entities that detonate swiftly, sometimes as an attack but also useful in other contexts. Group them together and let their eagerness cause an explosion. Not every encounter requires combat. However, be cautious as there are challenging opponents in the vicinity such as T-rex-like creatures or a highly maneuverable flamethrower.

7 Narrow Trench Near Deep Siofra Well

Grants Over 1K Runes Per Each Try

Another area where players can farm in relative safety is near the Deep Siofra Well. West of the Site of Grace is a narrow trench filled with enemies that kill themselves by exploding. Simply run past them using Torrent for the free Runes. It’s not much but the Site of Grace is nearby and it’s easy to repeat this farming method.

As an enthusiastic player, you might choose to tackle not only the explosive cousins but also the Abnormal Stone Clusters, the worm-like entities. These creatures offer a greater number of Runes compared to their counterparts, and they’re effortless to eliminate without provoking them even when their companions are under attack. Additionally, there’s a colossal archer stationed at the trench’s end, should you feel daring enough to engage.

6 Sellia, Town Of Sorcery

Grants Nearly 1.5K Runes Per Each Try

As an explorer in the gaming world, I must admit that the town of Sellia isn’t particularly welcoming to newcomers, but it’s brimming with Runes – a goldmine, if you will! Scattered around the town are a few Site of Grace locations, and the enemies, while challenging, are abundant. It’s a tough call, but the potential rewards make it worth the effort.

In this region, players aren’t required to engage in combat directly since they can call upon spiritual summons instead. They are empowered to summon enhanced wolf packs or Banished Knights ashto counteract the sorcerers. Moreover, it’s quite simple to restart the entire area and repeat the massacre if necessary.

5 Ball Farm Near Lenne’s Rise

Grants Nearly 2K Runes Per Each Try

Near the Farum Greatbridge once more, you’ll find another spot where players can gather Runes in a less strenuous manner. This time, head towards Lenne’s Rise – it’s the tower located southeast of the Farum Greatbridge’s Site of Grace.

After gaining access to Lenne’s Rise Site of Grace, players can journey a bit towards the northeast and encounter an adversary resembling a steel ball that will appear. To deal with this foe, players should arrange themselves so their backs are against the ledge, waiting for the ball enemy to materialize. A swift side roll when the ball rolls in your direction should do the trick, eliminating the enemy without any major complications. Repeat this process as needed; each defeat could net you approximately 2,000 Runes.

4 Battleground Near The Impassable Greatbridge

Grants Over 2K Runes Per Each Try

If you find the dragon sleepover event dull, perhaps the AFK Rune farming zone would suit you better. This battlefield is situated close to the Impassable Greatbridge Site of Grace and also leads to Redmane Castle via a portal. Players can simply stand near the Site of Grace to avoid any unwanted confrontations.

Redmane soldiers will eliminate rats and other beast adversaries affected by Scarlet Rot. To maximize Rune absorption, players should approach carefully but don’t stand too close. Remember, you’re free to carry on with your own activities while the Redmane Soldiers handle the task at hand.

3 Road To Bestial Sanctum

Grants Over 6.5K Runes Per Each Try

Individuals who have previously accessed both the Bestial Sanctum and the Farum Greatbridge in the game will also discover another notable location. Commencing from the Farum Greatbridge, players should follow the path northwards along the road. As they progress, they’ll encounter some hostile adversaries, which can be referred to as rough or common enemies.

These common thugs, known for their treacherous nature, can be attacked from afar or stabbed in the back. Some of them will have their backs turned to the player’s direction, unaware of the approaching threat. Each thug is worth approximately 1,000 Runes during a fresh game session (more on subsequent playthroughs), and there are roughly 20 of them scattered, with some located east and west of the road.

2 War-Dead Catacombs

Grants Over 9K Runes Per Each Try

To gain access to this farming location, players must first defeat Starscourge Radahn in battle. This confrontation occurs on a battleground by the beach, where you’ll find a dungeon to the north known as War-Dead Catacombs. The region is teeming with Redmane Knights and Cleanrot Knights engaged in combat.

As soon as adventurers step into the dungeon, they must conceal themselves using the Mimic’s Veil to avoid drawing attention from the fighting knights as they stealthily move forward for additional runes. Finding a secure location can be a bit of a challenge, but the reward in runes is substantial once all the knights have finished their combat.

How To Get Mimic’s Veil

As a seasoned Elden Ring player with countless hours under my belt, let me guide you through the process of acquiring Mimic’s Veil from Stormveil Castle. First off, remember that ol’ Margit, The Fell Omen must be vanquished before you can claim this item. Trust me, I’ve battled my fair share of tough enemies in this game, and Margit is no exception!

In the L-shaped hallway’s corner, locate the wooden staircase and ascend it. Upon entering the initial room, turn immediately to your right. Locate the chest in the room’s corner, and opening it will place Mimic’s Veil in your inventory.

1 Dragon Farm Near Fort Faroth

Grants 60K Runes (Unrepeatable)

As an avid player, I’ve discovered a fantastic farming location that consistently rewards approximately 80,000 Runes, with even higher yields when using a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. What makes this spot particularly noteworthy is the necessity of a Bleed weapon to maximize its potential. Luckily, this location becomes accessible as soon as players acquire Torrent, making it an early-game treasure trove for those equipped with the right tools.

To reach Fort Faroth from Limgrave, navigate to the Third Church of Marika. You’ll find a portal there, situated north of the ruins, by the pond. This will transport you to the Beastial Sanctum. Then, simply ride your horse south, cross the bridge (be cautious as a dragon resides nearby), and keep an eye out for the Spirit Spring trampoline close to the Minor Erdtree (watch out for the Erdtree Avatar).

As a seasoned adventurer, I’ve faced my fair share of formidable foes, but nothing quite compares to the thrill of taking down a dragon. So, here’s what you need to do: Venture forth to the imposing Fort Faroth, a place where many a brave soul has tread before. Once there, step outside and behold the monstrous beast that lies just beyond the fort walls. This dragon is ailing, but don’t let its sickly appearance fool you – it’s still dangerous.
