Elden Ring: How To Farm Sacramental Bud

Elden Ring: How To Farm Sacramental Bud

As a seasoned Elden Ring adventurer with countless hours spent traversing the Lands Between, I can confidently say that the quest for the Sacramental Bud is one that will test even the most hardened player’s patience and perseverance. This elusive, immature bud containing fresh blood is not only rare but also crucial in crafting items that can significantly aid players in their journey.

In the realm of Elden Ring, numerous perils lurk. The Lands Between harbor formidable adversaries, some of whom can inflict painful status conditions. Poison, for instance, might annoy players as it causes sustained harm over time. Fortunately, poison progresses gradually, and it’s relatively mild compared to other status effects you’ll encounter. On the other hand, Blood Loss and Frostbite can severely incapacitate a player while inflicting massive damage in a single strike, bringing down even the most resilient Tarnished.

In Elden Ring, it’s generally agreed that Scarlet Rot is the most detrimental status effect. If your Scarlet Rot gauge fills up completely, you’ll contract the disease, which functions similarly to Poison but at an accelerated pace. If you don’t remove Scarlet Rot promptly, your health will rapidly deplete in large chunks, forcing you to use your precious flasks just to stay alive. It’s not uncommon (especially early on) to exhaust all your flasks and still succumb due to the persistent nature of this ailment. Fortunately, players can manufacture items to purge Scarlet Rot, but they’ll require a scarce crafting material called Sacramental Bud for that purpose. Here’s where you can farm Sacramental Bud in Elden Ring.

Where To Farm Sacramental Bud In Elden Ring

Enemy Name Enemy Location(s) Drop Rate
Rotten Stray Writheblood Ruins, Unsightly Catacombs, Old Altus Tunnel, Prospect Town (DLC), & Northern Nameless Mausoleum (DLC) 3 Percent
Land Octopus Only the particular group of Land Octopi NE from the Altus Highway Junction Site of Grace, near where an Amber Starlight can be found 3 Percent

It’s regrettable that Sacramental Buds are exceptionally scarce resources for crafting, meaning players will have to farm extensively if they aim to accumulate a substantial supply. Unlike most Crafting Materials in the game, the ones found in the wild do not respawn. Instead, the availability of these materials is entirely dependent on enemy drops once all naturally occurring or dropped buds have been discovered within the overworld.

In fact, obtaining Sacramental Buds can be painfully rare, but luckily, an area teeming with enemies that might drop these coveted items exists. This location is more accessible in the Writheblood Ruins on the Altus Plateau. To reach this spot, players should navigate their way there.

For those who haven’t made it to the designated area yet, there are two options: either join the Dectus Medallion together and board the Grand Lift, or ascend the rugged cliffs of the Ruin-Strewn Precipice while confronting Magma Wyrm Makar to secure entry. Upon reaching the Altus Plateau, players should navigate northward followed by a westward journey until they stumble upon the Bridge of Iniquity Site of Grace, situated close to the bridge linking Mt. Gelmir and the Altus Plateau. Notably, the Writheblood Ruins are positioned directly east of the Bridge of Iniquity Site of Grace, making it the quickest route when farming after each respawn point.

Region Name # of Sacremental Buds Found Here
Caelid 18+
Altus Plateau 22+
Mt. Gelmir 33+
Leyndell Catacombs 2+
Mohgwyn Palace 1+
Miquella’s Haligtree 3+

Upon reaching the ruins, I’ll be on the hunt for the seven Rotten Strays scattered around. These canines have a slim 3% chance of dropping Sacramental Bud. Additionally, there’s a colossal Giant Skeletal Slime lurking about, which has a more promising 20% drop rate. To farm this valuable crafting material, I can just dash to the ruins, do my routine, and hope for the best, though it might take some time due to the low drop rates. Boosting my Item Discovery could increase my chances of finding that elusive rare material. Oh, and there’s a magical Talisman called Silver Scarab that can enhance my Item Discovery when I wear it!

Name Description Rarity Recipes Used In
Sacramental Bud An immature bud containing fresh blood. Material used for Crafting Items. Exceedingly Rare Preserving Boluses & Bewitching Branches

The Sacramental Bud is used in two separate crafting recipes. Players that are looking for a way to enchant enemies can make Bewitching Branches. These items are produced by combining 1 x Miquella’s Lily and 1 x Sacramental Bud. Players will also need to have gained the Fervor’s Cookbook [3] to learn the recipe. This particular cookbook is rewarded to players by Gideon Ofnir once they speak to him after visiting the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum for the first time.

The most useful item that players can make with the Sacramental Bud are Preserving Boluses. These consumables are capable of outright curing Scarlet Rot and can also completely reset a player’s Scarlet Rot build-up meter. To craft them, players first need to get their hands on the Armorer’s Cookbook [6], which is found on a corpse in the Siofra River. The easiest way to get to the cookbook is to spawn at the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace then leap to the ledges behind the player using Torrent (near the pillars) and follow the cliff that leads to the West. Once players have the cookbook, they can combine 2 x Dewkissed Herba, 1 x Crystal Cave Moss, and 1 x Sacramental Bud to craft the Preserving Boluses.
