Elden Ring: How To Get The Great-Jar’s Arsenal Talisman

Elden Ring: How To Get The Great-Jar's Arsenal Talisman

As a seasoned Elden Ring explorer and avid gamer, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation as I write about my encounter with the elusive Great-Jar in Caelid. This enigmatic foe has been a subject of intrigue for many players, myself included, due to its seemingly impossible-to-reach location and the enticing reward it promises: the Great-Jar’s Arsenal Talisman.

When investigating Elden Ring, particularly the northern part of Caelid, you may have come across a colossal Living Jar located near an arena-like structure. This jar is visible from the vantage point above the Minor Erdtree and its catacombs, but it appears inaccessible.

If you manage to discover the way and overcome the Great-Jar’s Challenge, you’ll earn the Great-Jar’s Arsenal Talisman as a reward. This is an exceptional talisman that significantly boosts your equipment load capacity. Wearing heavier armor sets without exceeding the rolling limit can be a game-changer with this talisman in your inventory.

How To Reach The Great-Jar

Despite being in the northern part of Caelid, the access point to this place is actually located much further south, specifically in Limgrave. Look for Mistwood, which is situated on the east side of the region. Close to the foot of the Little Erdtree in Mistwood, you’ll find a circular structure. Go inside and take the elevator down to reach the Siofra River Well site.

Journey through this region, passing by the Claymen, until you arrive at the “starlit” grotto. Along the way, there are challenges such as a brazier riddle to solve and concealed treasures. Your ultimate goal lies to the north. Travel due north, encountering the Ancestral Follower Spirits, lightning orbs, and colossal crabs. At the extreme northern end of this region, you’ll discover another elevator platform. You will need to utilize two Stonesword Keys to operate it. Ascend on this elevator, and you’ll reach a massive chasm situated in the heart of Caelid, northwest of Sellia, Town of Sorcery.

Head west and take a break at the tranquil spot named Deep Siofra Well before resuming your journey through the chasm. Be cautious of the enemies that explode as you advance. You’ll encounter two Golem Archers further along your path. Attempt to face the first one, so the second doesn’t have a chance to attack you. Overcoming these archers will rejuvenate your flasks.

Completing The Great-Jar’s Challenge

As you get closer to the enormous “Great Jar,” you’ll be given a cue to interact. The Great Jar itself won’t speak, but it will initiate the Great-Jar Challenge instead. You’ll notice the summons signs of the Knight of the Great Jar in red as they appear.

To triumph and claim the Great-Jar’s Arsenal Talisman, you must face and vanquish the three Knights of the Great Jar. Keep in mind that these knights are controlled by other players who have already conquered the Great-Jar’s Challenge. Consequently, you may encounter formidable tactics or optimized character builds during your encounters. The outcome relies on a fair dose of fortune.

If you’re finding the Knights of the Great Jar harder to deal with than you expected, try quitting the game and starting it up again in offline or solo mode instead. In this mode, the Knights will behave consistently.

In offline mode, you will face three specific types of predetermined enemies:

  • A spellcaster build with a long thrusting sword and spellcasting staff
  • A Dexterity build with a fast sword, poison skill, and buckler
  • A Strength build using a mace, holy skill, and tower shield.

Instead of engaging the nearest Golem Archer right away, consider passing it by and dealing with it later. In case you’re using up your flasks too fast during fights against these enemies, you have the option to return and eliminate the first Golem Archer encountered, thus refilling some of your flasks during the interval between summoning one of the Great-Jar adversaries.

After overpowering each of the three Knights guarding the Great Jar, approach the jar once more. The jar will reward you with the Great-Jar Arsenal Charm, which increases your maximum carrying capacity by an impressive 19%.

Although other Talismans may offer more benefits, having the Great-Jar Arsenal can be incredibly useful if you prefer not to put points into Endurance for rolling efficiently in your preferred armor.
