Elden Ring: How To Get To Nokstella Eternal City

As a seasoned Elden Ring traveler with countless hours under my belt, I must say that this alternate path to Nokstella, Eternal City is not for the faint-hearted. The Dual-Gargoyle fight is no laughing matter, and it’s sure to test even the most battle-hardened adventurers.

In their adventure through Elden Ring, gamers will encounter an intriguing blue-hued NPC character named . This enigmatic witch is one of the most captivating figures in the Lands Between, offering players the Spirit Calling Bell to enable them to use Spirit Ashes. What’s surprising is that this isn’t the only time they’ll meet her. As players advance through Liurnia of the Lakes, they can find her again and follow her unique quest line to its conclusion.

To accomplish Ranni’s questline, players must journey to a secret locale known as Nokstella, the Everlasting City. This destination is crucial not only for finishing Ranni’s story but also because it abounds with useful resources, particularly for those focusing on enhancing their Spirit Ashes. Here are some tips on how players can find and plunder the riches hidden within Nokstella, Eternal City in Elden Ring.

Step One

Starting Ranni’s Questline

The first step in heading towards Nokstella, Eternal City, at least if you’re looking for the path of least resistance is starting Ranni the Witches’ long questline. You’ll need to collect an item from Ranni, later on, to help actually access the zone, so progressing her questline up to that point is pretty necessary. To start Ranni’s quest, you’ll of course have to visit her in her tower at , which is part of the Three Sisters area of . It’s pretty involved getting here though, as you’ll need to work your way all the way through Caria Manor, eventually beating both and fighting off (AKA getting it to below 50 percent health) before getting your audience with Ranni.

Following your confrontation with Loretta’s ghost and your battle against Adula, you’ll gain entry to meet Ranni directly. Upon speaking with her, it’s essential to pledge loyalty to her (many players have likely already done this during their initial encounter). Once this allegiance is sworn, she will then entrust you with the quest to retrieve the Fingerslayer Blade directly from Nokron.

Moving forward, it’s essential that you locate and conquer the mythical warrior named Starscourge Radahn, who resides in the deep south of Caelid. In simpler terms, your goal is to get to Redmane Castle, which lies at the most southeastern tip of Caelid. Upon defeating this demonic figure plagued by Scarlet Rot, his dominion over the cosmos will weaken, causing a comet to collide near the Ancestral Woods and create an entrance to Nokstella, an underground city.

Following your journey through the city, encountering various skeletons, Nokstella warriors, and enormous metal orbs, you’ll reach a boss battle. Defeating the boss will unlock a Site of Grace known as Mimic Tear Settlement, situated at the foot of a massive bridge. Crossing this bridge will reveal a crack in the stone railing and a narrow path leading down a slope. Descending the initial hill while staying close to the left wall, followed by scaling another small hill, will guide you towards the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace.

In the tranquil setting of the Ancestral Woods Sanctum, you’ll have to leap off a cliff edge and land on rooftops, navigating platforming challenges throughout the urban landscape while battling Albinauric foes. As you progress, you’ll encounter a colossal ball-shaped enemy within a church-like edifice. Exiting through the front door of this area will guide you towards another building and a succession of Silver Tear adversaries. The penultimate Silver Tear before reaching the building will metamorphose into a towering titan, acting as a final obstacle. Overcoming this titan-like creature leads to a chest hidden beneath a skeleton, containing the Fingerslayer Blade. This blade is strongly suspected to be the same artifact that forced the inhabitants of Nokstella to be exiled underground, a transgression that those acquainted with Volcano Manor would already recognize.

After collecting and presenting the Fingerslayer Blade to Ranni, she will allow you access to Renna’s Peak. Reaching the summit of this peak and utilizing the Waygate found there will transport you directly to a specific location. Subsequently, you must navigate through the Uhl Palace Ruins and proceed through an interconnected tunnel network that eventually leads to Nokstella – the Eternal City.

In this location, you’ll find an abundance of valuable resources to enhance your Spirit Ashes, along with a crucial item necessary to progress in Ranni’s quest.

You can bypass Ranni’s questline and still get to Nokstella the Eternal City through an alternative route, but be warned, it’s more challenging due to a formidable double boss encounter ahead. To find this path, return to the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace and move eastward across the roadway into a small wooded area.

Once you start noticing the spirit jellyfish, you’ll be assured that you’ve reached the correct location. By keeping to the right in this region, you’ll eventually find yourself at a site where numerous spirit jellyfish are gathered on a cliffside. If you stick to the left side of the wall, it will lead you to the edge of a cliff from which you can jump down and continue along the trail. This path will eventually guide you to another Site of Grace, and beyond that, you can leap off the cliff, into a tower, and into the Siofra Aqueduct.

Advancing through here and reaching the final point leads to an encounter with a Duo of swift-moving bosses, notorious for their potent sweeping attacks and toxic Area of Effects. Overcoming these bosses rewards you with a Site of Grace at the waterfall’s foot, as well as a coffin that transports you to the Deeproot Depths if activated. Heading north in this region eventually leads to another coffin, which takes you to Ansel River Main, granting access to Nokstella, Eternal City.

You can also access a specific location by navigating through the Underground Exclusion Zone within Leyndell, Capital City, and overcoming the boss there. Once the boss has been defeated, you’ll find a hidden passage behind its reward chest, leading directly to the Deeproot Depths without needing to visit Nokron. However, be aware that taking this path will commit you to the Frenzy Flame ending.
