Recently, it was announced that A24 plans to adapt Elden Ring into a live-action movie for the big screen. It is now being reported that Kit Connor, who played a significant role in A24’s Warfare, is being considered for a part in this upcoming film.
According to Deadline’s reports, it remains undecided if Connor has finalized his agreement with A24 for their upcoming project. It’s still uncertain where things stand in the negotiation process. If the contract is signed, however, Connor will join forces once again with director Alex Garland on Elden Ring, as Garland serves both as writer and director for this project. The report hints that coordinating schedules to accommodate both Connor and Garland could prove difficult, but they are both eager for the collaboration to take place.
In terms of video game-like films, Connor’s previous experience is limited to a minor role in Ready Player One. Since then, he has taken on more significant parts in Rocketman, The Wild Robot, His Dark Materials, and the Netflix series Heartstopper. Initially known as an author, Garland transitioned to screenwriting with 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and Dredd. He later made a name for himself as a director with Ex Machina, Annihilation, and Civil War.
George R.R. Martin, known for penning the Song of Ice and Fire series which spawned Game of Thrones, played a role in establishing the mythos of Elden Ring. Previously, he’s discussed potential plans for an Elden Ring film, yet has chosen not to disclose the extent of his involvement in the project.
In 2022, Elden Ring was launched to widespread praise and record-breaking sales, and it’s scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2 soon. The initial spin-off from the series, titled Elden Ring: Nightreign, is set to debut tomorrow, May 30th.
