In simpler terms, “Elden Ring Nightreign” is a roguelike game set in the realm of Elden Ring. To vanquish the Nightlords and endure the night, it’s crucial that you gather enhancements and weapons to aid you in overpowering your adversaries.
To ensure success in every game session, it’s essential to have a diverse collection of weapons imbued with multiple elements. Among these, don’t forget to equip yourself with at least one robust weapon that can effectively combat the formidable Gnoster from Elden Ring Nightreign.
How Weapons Work in Elden Ring Nightreign
In the game Elden Ring Nightreign, there are thirty-one distinct weapon categories: daggers, long swords, large swords, colossal swords, stabbing swords, heavy stabbing swords, curved blades, double-curved swords, katanas, twin short swords, axes, large axes, maces, flails, massive hammers, colossal weapons, spears, long spears, torches, holy seals, staffs infused with glintstone, ballistas, crossbows, longbows, shortbows, claws, fists, whips, halberds, and reapers.
On the Elden Ring Nightreign map, these weapons are scattered at various locations marked by indicators. The position where you discover each weapon determines the elemental infusion on top of its standard attributes. It’s crucial to grab these weapons whenever possible; fire is nearly indispensable when battling the Sentient Pest.
Where To Get Fire Weapons In Elden Ring Nightreign

In the expansive landscape of Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll encounter several markers on your map. Some of these signify locations of interest such as ruins, churches, and Sites of Grace. However, there are also markers denoting elemental areas. Engaging in a boss fight or opening a chest in these zones may result in the acquisition of one of the thirty-one types of weapons. This weapon will be imbued with the element represented by the marker on your map. For instance, if the marker shows a fire icon, it resembles a flaming sword, as depicted below.

Other Ways to Deal Fire Damage

When an elemental symbol appears in a location without a treasure chest or boss, you might find a unique item instead that delivers elemental attacks. For instance, if it’s a fire icon, you’ll come across a Fire Bomb which inflicts minimal fire damage. Additionally, you can apply Fire Grease to your weapon for added fire damage, and certain Elden Ring Nightreign relics can boost the fire damage in your overall build.
Why Fire is So Important for Gnoster and Caligo

Below, you’ll find information about the mechanics in the battles against Gnoster and Caligo in Elden Ring Nightreign. Remember, there are potential spoilers ahead. Gnoster is the boss for Day 3 in the Sentient Pest expedition, and it has a weakness to fire. To maximize your chances, make sure you have weapons, relics, or single-use items at hand that can ignite these creatures.
In the first phase of this battle, applying fire damage not only deals significant damage to the moth aspect of the monster, but it seems to cause the ground-bound scorpion part to petrify occasionally. If you use fire weapons on the scorpion, it may freeze, turning its shell white. This means it stops moving or attacking, taking less damage. As a result, you can concentrate on defeating the moth instead of dividing your attention between both parts. It appears that this effect only occurs with fire damage.
During the second stage of Gnoster, you’ll gain the ability to ignite the moth with fire weapons. Unlike usual quick bursts, the moth will continue to burn for an extended period, transforming your fire attacks into ones that deal Damage Over Time (DoT).
In relation to the Caligo boss battle, you’ll notice that this icy dragon absorbs significantly more damage when struck with fire-based weapons. Unlike Gnoster, it doesn’t appear to have any unique abilities. However, dealing extra damage will make the frosty confrontation move along quicker and be less daunting. Given its difficulty level, any method that hastens the fight is a welcome aid.
